Mirror's Edge™

I may have only played for a few hours, but that's probably enough to tell you to BUY THIS GAME ON SALE FOR LIKE UNDER 10 BUCKS. it's a great game, but no longer worth the 30$ CAD for reasons below. The good(so far): The parkour and mechanics are INCREDIBLE and smooth. The story is decent. The bad: NO OPTIMIZATION FOR ANY NEW PC'S AND 1080p IS THE BEST YOU'LL LIKELY GET. Whilst the mechanics may be smooth, and you *can* get great frames, that all disappears once you get to any action scene or anything that has glass shattering. Why? because of old Nvidia physx. This game, was not future proofed. i have a very good pc (as you can see) so that logically isn't the problem. here are the settings I use for the best experience (for my preference more or less): Res: 1920x1080 (stretched to my 1440p dell g2724d, but normal 1440 is quite laggy+more pixelated for me) Vsync: Off (i use AMD enhanced sync for this instead) Texture qual. high Graphics qual. high AA: 2x (this also impacts perfomance alot) Physx support: off (this is not just an issue for AMD cards like mine, newer Nvidia cards can have the same issues) At the end of the day I may be nit-picking and obsessing over a problem that's easy to fix and not a huge issue, and I also acknowledge that I haven't played this game that much altogether, but just heed my warning, although it may not produce the same issues for you.

Hardcore parkour baby

Mirror’s Edge still holds up very well after all these years both in terms of gameplay and visuals. The clean, minimalist art style with white buildings and bright blue skies still looks great and gives the game a futuristic (and now almost modern-day) atmosphere. The parkour gameplay is satisfying. Once you get into the flow of running, jumping, and chaining movements together, it just feels right. Though when you are running and jumping around, you won't be looking at the beautiful environment. The story isn’t anything special, but it’s not bad either. It’s also a relatively short game (6 hours). One important note for Steam Deck players: make sure to turn off PhysX in the in-game video options. Otherwise, you’ll get heavy lag when glass shatters. Also only have one hour on record, because I always played this game offline on the way and back to work on the train. I think it's a must play cult classic for every gamer!

un inizio un po' ripetitivo fa poi spazio a un'ampia scelta di parkour, il combattimento è monotono ma non stanca essendo sporadico nel gameplay, nel complesso un ottimo videogame, che ho preferito acquistare rispetto al più recente reboot proprio per la linearità dei livelli. La storia è l'equivalente di un riso bianco ma le aspettative per questo aspetto erano già basse, essendo chiaro fin da subito che il gameplay sia l'elemento centrale del gioco.

Yes COD 4, 5 & 6 and battlefield will always be the pinnacle of gaming for me growing up, but nothing compares to how Mirror's Edge makes me feel. If you want a puzzle sort of game which makes you think and sometimes confuse you or then sometimes just make you relax and chill to the music and views of the city, then Mirror's Edge is the game for you. Mirror's Edge will always be my favourite game of all time.

Really good game, even tho it sometimes crashes when alttabing it runs pretty well (on everything under the RTX 5000 since they dont support PhysX anymore so they literally dont have enough power to run this game, fun times we live in lol) and you really need to be precise otherwise you are just falling to your dead. Music and visuals just amazing tho the brightness can sometimes feel like you are looking into the sun. Overall 8/10
