This game has genuinely great puzzle design. It isn't crazy obtuse, but I was stumped a few times because I failed to observe the environment closely. The item-based puzzle-solving has depth beyond your usual adventure game. You're progressing through the use of mostly instinctual, resourceful thinking. That means combining several items in your inventory, and then maybe later taking that assembled item apart to use its original components for something else. Or backtracking slightly to recover an item meant for a previous puzzle. With other elements in the mix like basic platforming, slinging rocks to open paths and drop out-of-reach items, occasionally controlling your pet lizard, etc., the pace stays smooth all around... With the exception of the enemy encounters. They almost ruined the game for me early on, as the dodge-rolling combat feels terrible (I fell through the world after getting sandwiched by two spiders), so I turned the combat difficulty to Story. Although enemies have too much health, fighting is at least a small fraction of what you do. The majority is exploration and puzzle-solving, and unraveling the weird story. Regarding that story, it's certainly intriguing, especially if you take the time to read the collectible notes/scrolls. The Arabian setting and atmosphere are immersive as well. It doesn't have the sleekest presentation, but you can notice the directorial vision. At the end of nearly every scene, there's a stylized 2D still image overlaying the 3D scene--essentially a filtered freeze frame--before the next scene quickly loads, which I thought was a cool touch, keeping me invested in Nadira's journey. Some may find the lack of polish and refinement too tough to bear, but this is another example of smart design outweighing technical shortcomings. If anything, the experience was pleasantly nostalgic for me, whether the devs intended that or not.
Mirage 7 isn't a flawless experience, but it is at least in my opinion a very good one. A game where its story is somewhere between the likes of Prince of Persia and F.E.A.R (at least some elements), it leaves me really wanting to see more from this potential universe. Graphically the game is very solid. It is not going to blow you away as a powerhouse, but everything fits the art style and is well modeled. You are mostly walking through tighter corridors, with a couple of more open spaces throughout the your playthrough, meaning you wont find yourself getting lost at all. Which is great, because this game is broken up into two main gameplay styles, Puzzles and combat. Puzzles being the majority, where you'll need to explore every path and look for every clue which will not only help you progress, but also explain everything going on with the games world and story. The game has two types of puzzles, that being inventory based and enviromental. These are pretty much as straight forward as you can get, and only really got super stumped on one part. In which I didn't realise I needed to climb onto the tables to give items to a statue. I won't say more than that to avoid spoilers. Beyond that my biggest hint is to make sure you are using all the games mechanics (such as jiji's sight mode) to ensure you are finding everything you need, otherwise like I did in my initial playthrough, you will find yourself roaming around for a while a bit confused. The games audio can be a little hit or miss. Voice acting is fine and reasonably well done, and enemies sound solid. However, there are some moments, like when you hit a gong during puzzles where I think a bit of variety would have helped instead of being the same sound effect. The soundtrack is good, but you will get used to the same chunk of music playing in the background throughout its given level to get a little tired of it. Thankfully the music is at a pretty good level, that ambient sounds make it a lot less noticable than you would expect. As for combat, it never really overstays its welcome. Its pretty basic, with there being a fairly small variety of enemies, but since its not the main focus its perfectly fine. It will take a bit of getting used to, as it could go with a little extra polish, but its not so janky that you are going to dread encounters. Only had one really tough fight, and that was right at the end. The games animations as well are pretty well done, and honestly I didn't really have anything else that I could really complain about outside of a single bug I ran into. Somehow, I duplicated the dagger in my inventory, and if I hovered over it while playing, it caused the inventory to be unusable until I picked up another item. Not game breaking, or anything just a little frustrating. Thankfully the inventory wraps around when you scroll allowing you to avoid the dulicated item, and use everything as normal. The game is lacking in some polish overall, and to some that might be a deal breaker, but at least for me, I didn't find it all that bad or distracting during my playthrough, as I just had to keep in mind the combat wasn't going to be Elden Ring's and I got what it wanted me to do in terms of dodging making it perfectly playable. With all this said, I do ultimately recommend the game, and I really do hope there is more games planned within a potential universe wthat could be used from this games story. If you are on the fence about it, grab on sale, I don't think you will be dissapointed, Also one last thing. I love Jiji, he is the best little guy ever

Love RPG? Make sure to Follow my Curator Page for plenty more!
Although the game is rather simple, I liked it. The story really draws you in. The mystery unfolds slowly and keeps you intrigued until the very end. The combat is secondary and poorly executed, and the puzzles are quite difficult, but still solvable on your own. There isn't much platforming, which is a good thing because it's terrible. I recommend it to puzzle lovers. ✔️6/10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kSZ76np0wI
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
An enjoyable short adventure with some pretty good puzzles and some fun world building and twists. Combat is pretty basic but as its not the focus, I say it gets the job done. I will say that it does end rather abruptly I feel and was left wanting more, curious to see where the story would go from there. Also hands out achievements like candy, which can be a plus for some!
- No
So far I really like this game and I'm just getting going in it. My favorite part is the lizard eye, I think I'll be using that a lot. Had to change a few key bindings to match my play style which was really easy to do. Definitely a winner in my opinion. Game completion edit: Completed on Normal. The story was interesting and unique. I didn't figure it out until just before the end. Combat was challenging but not overly so. The Puzzles were at the same time frustratingly hard and frustratingly easy once figured out. Overall I found the game enjoyable and fun. I say well done to the creators of it. I will now go back and do the other two levels just for fun.
Spent an hour running around an area trying to figure out a puzzle. Got frustrated and looked up the solution, only to find out that I already solved the puzzle and my game was bugged. I'm only a few hours in, but the game isn't interesting enough to restart to get past this part.
