[H1]Minesweeper went 100 layers deep and took my sanity with it[/H1] Thank you to the dev for the free game key! But rest assured, this is still an impartial review written as if I had bought the game myself. 😊 As a long-time Minesweeper addict, I’m always happy to see creative twists on the classic formula and MineDeeper definitely delivers on that front. The premise is simple yet genius: dig your way down through 100 layers of increasingly tricky boards, each one demanding sharper focus and steadier clicks than the last. It’s a familiar kind of tension, part satisfaction and part “oh no I just doomed myself”, and MineDeeper manages to capture it perfectly. I’ve only cleared about 15 layers so far, but I’ve seen enough to appreciate the clever design and escalating challenge. The dev’s clearly dedicated, even fixing many reported bug in record time (we love an [i]extremely[/i] responsive dev). The achievements are clean and goal-oriented, and the difficulty progression feels well-tuned for veteran players who like to sweat a little. However, this is a harsh game for beginners or those with shaky fingers. One misclick (on a bomb, an already revealed tile, or even a wrongly placed flag!) and BOOM! The dev changed some little things on Nov. 14th, 2025 though : everything explodes on release instead of the instant you click on something, there is a dark mode now, plus a darker tile background in regular mode so that the white numbers are now more readable and you now have a second chance recharging every 10 layers! There is still no colorblind mode, but most issues have been resolved 24h after the original review! With that said, MineDeeper nails what it sets out to do: deliver a challenging, addictive, no-nonsense Minesweeper evolution for the patient and precise. It’s clean, clever, and brutal in equal measure: a deep dig for true fans of the genre, not an easy stroll for first-timers (but still worth a shot just for the challenge). The core concept is brilliant: instead of a single grid, you’re digging down through endless strata of earth, each layer color-coded for clarity. But here’s the clever part—you can only work on three layers at a time. This limitation adds a subtle tension and forces you to think carefully about which layers to prioritize and when to descend. It’s not just about avoiding mines anymore—it’s about mining deeper, uncovering safe paths, and navigating a vertical puzzle that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. One of the most satisfying mechanics is how the game lets you use lower layers to help resolve upper-layer deadlocks. When you hit a 50/50 guess, you can dig deeper and use the information from below to clear the layer above—just like excavating real earth to reveal what’s hidden. It’s a brilliant metaphor that adds both realism and strategic depth. The game also starts with a hint function enabled, which is a thoughtful touch for newcomers. It gently guides you through the mechanics and interface, and once you're comfortable, you can disable it for a cleaner and more deductive experience. One of the most welcome features is the ability to save and return later. For an infinite game, this is a lifesaver and shows great consideration for the player’s time. Controls are intuitive and thoughtfully expanded. Left-click to reveal, right-click to flag, and middle-click to clear unnecessary tiles once they're flagged correctly. You can even interact with the top layer to mark tiles on the layer just below it. This helps clear away some deadlocks you may have. And yes, the first click on each layer is always safe—thank you, Jace! Overall, MineDeeper is a thoughtful, inventive evolution of a timeless puzzle. It's a neat spin on regular minesweeper - opening lower layers erases everything above. It takes a bit to get used to, but enjoyable. The game also has good atmosphere. I like the sound design, animations, and music; it's pretty chill. As someone who plays a lot of minesweeper, there are some small things that clash with my muscle memory, such as no option to L+R chord, as well as flags being required. But other than that it's great.

Interesting concept. Gets a little bit to get used to. Would be great to have rebinding options. If you have tougher mouse wheel, clicking it gets tiring.

I love the idea but the controls need some improvement. I feel like it's ridiculous that missclicking on an already revealed number with a flag button counts as if stepping on a mine. That makes no sense whatsoever

I love the idea of the game and the animations + sounds are satisfying to play with. I would like some protection against accidental clicks on layers below, but other than that it is a very fun game that I think you will enjoy, if you enjoy normal minesweeper!
