About
Mind Over Magic is a colony simulation game developed by Sparkypants and published by Klei Publishing.
Build and optimize a magic school while keeping powerful mages alive and inspired. Prepare them to explore the horrors of the Underschool, a deadly subterranean gauntlet. Study lost arcana, grow exotic plants, brew potions, and raise undead servants. But don’t forget to stop the deadly fog from consuming everything in its path.
Build the ultimate magic school, brick by brick. Design every room to fit your vision. Unlock new furniture, wallpaper, lighting, and decorations to personalize every detail. Experiment with layouts to discover hidden efficiency bonuses and create the perfect balance of design and function.
Beneath your school lies a mysterious labyrinth filled with dark secrets, deadly magic, and ghastly creatures. The deeper you explore, the greater the rewards—but danger doesn’t always stay underground.
Research and discover mystical beasts to serve your school and unlock powerful new resources. These creatures require food, affection, and magical care to grow into valuable allies, providing rare materials for crafting and construction.
If you're truly ambitious, tackle the challenge of raising a dragon to aid your school. Dragons demand specialized students to become caretakers, but in return, they grant your mages the ability to embark on daring quests beyond the school walls—uncovering secrets, gaining unique powers, and shaping the future of your academy.
Bend the arcane to your will. Practitioners of Dark magic animate undead helpers known as Quilted—specialized constructs that gather resources, tend to plants, repair damage to your school, and mine valuable materials.
Make the most of your day by reducing travel time in your ever-growing campus with the power of flight. Strategically place broom racks to make traversal a breeze.
Enhance your students abilities with powerful gear, such as potions, relics, and increasingly powerful wands, each granting distinct magical advantages. Customize their daily schedules and assign teachers to shape their magical growth.
Magic isn’t just for combat—what your students learn and the tools they wield also determine how effectively they contribute to your school’s daily operations. Build a curriculum that fosters the ability to both survive and thrive.
Shape the future of magic by customizing your students' education. Apprenticed students can multiclass to wield a diverse array of spells, or strive towards single discipline mastery to unlock devastating ultimate abilities, powerful enough to face the dangers of the Nexus.
Reality is tenuous in the Nexus, a fractured realm of pure magic deep beneath the school. Your mages will need every advantage to battle powerful enemies, reconstitute its crumbling fragments, and break the curse for good. Train wisely, for only the most skilled mages can withstand the challenges that await beyond the veil.

+ nice hogwarts colony sim - low fps when your school gets big
Solid base management and party-based gameplay lacking in some QOL and mechanical depth. PROS: Creative build synergies, interesting construction challenges, and no need to micromanage resources. The normal difficulty is satisfying, and leaves enough room for error to mess up some mechanics. I never felt the need to start a new run after screwing up and letting a mage die, while still feeling pressured to calculate every risk I could. It remains casual enough to avoid stress, and retains enough obstacles to strain your resources if spent unwisely. Some examples of which are the decor requirements and room modifiers. Every flavor of station felt different - the lightning classroom needing to be towered or the windy pinnacle needing to be elevated. Build synergies were fun to explore, since each school of magic had practically no overlap in their niche and utilities. My favorites were a Deathcurrent Wolfkin dishing out buffs and cleansing terrain or a Steam Shattered Sorcerer, pumping 1k damage, or Seedsower human effortlessly negating enemy action economy by bolstering my own. Enemies usually have one very debilitating status effect that you have to plan your comps around, rewarding players for investing in every school of magic. CONS: However, relic management is annoying. No filters or easy way to search through relics that are already on plinths or selected to attune by another (that i could find at least). With the time commitment attunement took early game (even after the relic rooms), this made synergizing relics so unappetizing I just threw on whatever fit the slots and decked out my relic plinths with the leftovers. Game lags a bit in the priority, scheduling, relic, and food menus. And, there's very little variation on a school's magic. You only have 3 spells to work with on a staff member before your apprentices get ready for hiring (IF you multiclassed them) so although the spells have just enough depth to their mechanics to be unique to one another, your options grow stale after 100 or so combats. The ultimate spell is just enough variation to keep it interesting for your solo school mages, but it felt like a chore to finish those last few combats. I woulda killed for a few more optional spells to train into, or even swap a spell from another school just to create a slightly more customizable build (and reward weird students with wand upgrades that are more rounded out!) Overall, a pretty fun and stylistic game - solid 8/10 if you're already into this kinda stuff because it provides some unique mechanics and difficulty without stressing you out.

I'm ready to put a review, and it will be very straight to the point Good game, slow progress, you can watch most of the game in a few runs, but if you like the management games that are not very attention demanding this may could be your game, only thing annoying is the health recovery in my opinion and sometimes the combat system but nothing very stressful
Ні риба, ні м'ясо. Комусь зайде, але мені при всій моїй любові до колоні сімів прям взагалі не зайшло, хоча я розумію загалом що гра не є поганою, просто по всій видимости я не є її ЦА.
