an insanely fun zelda inspired game with a large world and so many collectibles its a must play
I kickstarted this game and I am really glad I did. It's really fun and I love the game mechanics. I did grind for a bit and still have moments to buy things I grind a few areas. Overall though this is a fun game if you like a nice Castlevania feeling game. I only wish there was a map.

This game starts out brutal but gets easier with each dungeon cleared.
Fantastic game, feels like a modern 2d zelda.
Very good game! Solid 9/10
Let me start by saying I really liked Mina the Hollower and think it's a well crafted action-adventure game with good writing, a vivid world, deep gameplay and nearly endless charm. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes action-adventure games. Having said all that I'd like to briefly discuss it so if you buy it -which I think you should- you know a few things. Mina the Hollower is a really interesting game because it's simultaneously really sleek and tightly designed, but also weirdly old-fashioned (pejorative) in some of it's design decisions. A lot of this comes down to authentic retro-ness, but if you're not prepared it will catch you off guard and it may very well take a while to adjust to. One such example is hitboxes, they're big, bigger than you might expect if you're used to modern top down games where you can squeeze behind enemies. Another example is the side-arms, your secondary weapons, unlike Shovel Knight that let you pick them at will, this game has you only carrying one at a time and there's no central place to get them. If you want a new one you have to go fetch it in the world from a breakable environment object that contains it. As a final example there's a few movement mechanics you have available which aren't really told or explained to you but are required, so you've got to experiment a bit to figure out what you can actually do. That negativity out of the way, Mina the Hollower is an excellent game. It has challenging combat that rewards fast thinking, interesting platforming that takes advantage of the movement mechanics and an incredibly reactive world. Aside from the explicit challenges and side-quests that are expected there's lots of little mini-quests you can do for rewards that have to be intuited from things people say which is always fun. I had a hard time putting down Mina the Hollower once I got into the groove of things and I think you will too.
my 2026 goty front-runner so far. it’s not a straight-up classic Zelda game, but instead a mash up of those qualities with modern adventure combat sensibilities. it just feels good to play, is extremely charming, and is tough - but rewarding. beating bosses feels like a triumph. there is so much to see and explore, and it brought back the feeling of getting lost and discovering secrets missing in a lot of current titles.
