MeowGun is one of the most trans games in existence, and I can't get enough of it. By trans game I mean it's a hyper & chunky FPS where you play as a catgirl spouting action movie lines & all the armour pickups are pride flags. The soundtrack rocks, the action is fast & bloody, and one-liners never get old, and it's just a lot of fun even if you're getting wrecked. It's what you'd get if Quake 2 was filled with estrogen & rage, then the action was cranked all the way up. 10/10
Everyone who likes Doom and/or Quake and/or cute things should absolutely play this game. It is a Quake-like (based on FTEQW) with a completely original look, entirely new arsenal and bestiary, tons of options, stats, and lore, and a boatload of 90s game and pop culture references. There's even an entire bonus episode rather than a singular end level, and a survival mode (using the DM maps, which are based on maps from the campaign). It's clear that a lot of effort went into this. I won't claim the game is perfect; I think there's room for improvement in ensuring that enemies stand out both visually and in terms of their sound effects, and that could potentially make the combat even better. But it's still plenty of fun as-is.
This game has it all!!! Cats! Guns!! Cats! Pets!!! Cats!!! Boops!!! A transgender protasgonist (hell yeah!!!) Did I mention cats? I really enjoyed this little game. It's a well-made labor of love.
meow!
Meowgun is a fun boomer shooter in the style of Quake 2. It's easy to see how much love went into the game, from the charming enemy designs to the atmosphere. Meowgun doesn't take itself too seriously and is all the more fun for it. The guns are cool and silly, the plot is complete nonsense in the best way possible, and the screen gets absolutely covered in particle effects when the intensity ramps up. My only real issue is that the encounter design veers more towards the "absolute clusterf*ck" philosophy, sometimes bordering on slaughtermap, but it works well enough for the games pacing. It doesn't overstay it's welcome and left me satisfied.
First of all, I can't tell if this game is Gay or just 90's European style. There's a very fine line. A charming mix of Quake II, DOOM, and a dash of Fi Da Puti Samurai. One liners galore with Easter Eggs, Secrets, and Secret Levels. EP1 (Demo) is pretty chill. Ramps up in further missions. Voice actress sounds bored the entire time, but it's actually entertaining the way it contrasts. Contains Perkele. Press E to Meow. Since it's June- game is LGBTQ+ friendly and even has a toggleable Pride Month Easter Egg... guess it's a little bit of both. Fun, different, doesn't try too hard.
An excellent FPS heavily inspired by Quake. Ran perfectly on Bazzite Linux via Proton 9.0-4.

(Game played on Wild Cat -difficulty) I bought the game because of the meow button, thinking it was just a silly little game for a couple easy laughs. While playing through the first episode, I felt like the game was just tossing a little too many enemies and they felt like they were a little too spongy. Because of this, I put the game down for a couple months. I decided to give it a second shot and, as I grew more used to the mechanics, it's honestly been surprisingly fun. It feels like a pretty solid middle ground between the high mobility of modern doom games (keep moving or die, essentially) and the more old classic doom/quake -esque shooting gameplay. You do have to keep moving, but you don't really have to think *too* much about your weapon usage. Some enemies did catch me off guard at first, most notably the ones with homing rockets, but they do feel fun enough to fight after a bit. Also, so... so many references to older games, anime, movies, etc. Having grown up with a lot of them (notably, that one Blood related secret area), a lot of my time was spent just going "Ha ha, I get it" at my screen. I loved it. Overall, as a boomer shooter enjoyer, this really hits a spot for me. While not a perfect match for me, it is very damn close.
Absolute cinemeow from start to finish. The fact that this game has under 100 reviews is absolutely criminal, this is an extremely solid boomshoot game. The devs have converted me to a fan and I can't wait to see what their team puts out next, I'll be there on release day. Leaving a review so hopefully steam pushes this game to more people.
