Melody Mania

Works better with wired microphones, there was too much interference with wireless mics. I used old PS2 microphones they worked perfectly after some tweaking with the settings. I also found that installing Ultrastar Deluxe on my PC helped improve the microphone quality too, couldn't get the wireless mics to work without doing this, not sure why but it made a big difference.

Why not linux version?

The game is still in development I guess. pretty rough in a lot of ways but basically works. As of now basically requires my USB microphone as my headphone microphones don't seem to be loud enough. Was necessary to invest 30 minutes or so reading the guide and setting up the other program that acquires the song libraries compiled by users of this and similar software. I will be very interested to see how this program develops.

For me this App (Game?) is the best karaoke-App available. As a heavy ultrastar-user it is great that MM supports US-Songs. Sure, the UI for song selection is not fluid or not intuitive, but remember the App is still in development. And i got the feeling, the author takes care of your issues. And one of the best options in MM is the voice separation ! U can turn any (!) song you own into a real karaoke version and/or mix up the singers voice with your voice, that is awesome ! Andreas, keep it up :)

I am somewhat new to the gamed karaoke "scene" and have been looking for the right software for a little while. While searching, I tested a majority of the freewares available for this kind of karaoke (see: https://open-music-games.org/games/), progressing through UltraStar Delux, then UltraStar Play, and finally Melody Mania. UltraStar Play is what convinced me to buy, as I could test the features of Melody Mania, *for the most part*. Reasonably, there were some features that did not work in UltraStar Play; at first I just thought my game wasn't working (maybe it wasn't!), but then I realized that it seems like UltraStar Play is/was more like a demo build for Melody Mania. The solution is to buy Melody Mania, so I did! And I am very happy I did. The features that unlocked in Melody Mania are exactly what I was looking for as a new player and song creator. I am hopeful for the future development of the game. Things I Really Like: *Pretty graphical interface & cute default icons *Videos run smoothly in the background of songs *Supports Mods! +1 for the "refresh your song library button" mod, vvv helpful *The song editor is both simple in design (good for just starting out!) and also has a plethora of features. *The editor allows for splitting stems of songs into vocals & instrumental tracks, and can also run speech detection (in development) on the vocal track; furthermore, there is a pitch detection feature, all to help align lyrics to the vocals. It feels very intuitive once you start using it. Features I Have Thoughts About: *Would like a system refresh option or something like that, don't like having to reload the game if I change mics *Song quality takes a dump after stem splitting, which may just be the unfortunate reality of this process. Looking forward to future developments. *Would like more song organization options and better folder icons (I tried assigning icons to my folders on my computer system, but those were not recognized, and I'm still trying to figure out how to do this) *This is just my own request, but I do wish there was an option to be able to assign outputs to each the vocal and instrumental tracks after they are split. My reasoning is that I would like to be able to remove the vocal track from any streaming/recording systems for DMCA purposes. *Would like to be able to change player colors - I'm aware there is a mod for this, but it appears to be broken at this moment. FYI: The song editor can be a bit tricky to get started, only because the automatic processes that run when you first load a song must be finished before you start editing - this isn't really made clear in the instructions. What happens is if you have a song that needs longer computing, and you decide to start editing in the meanwhile, the system will override any editing you've made with the generated files after it's finished processing. Just beware, you should let it finish first!

After Singstar died it left a massive hole in my soul. I just loved singing games and simply kept my ancient PS3 just for that. Now Melody Mania is a neat well working Singstar-like experience. I've dedicated one old laptop just as a karaoke machine. Just plug in your old PS3 microphones, get the songs from the massive online database (not promoted by game itself) and enjoy! The game is pure fun, free online app works good it gives you plenty personalisation options and even allows you to play with many many friends. The game is fine and contact with dev is amazing. I couldn't be happier with it. Actually I made a few of my non gaming friends buy it (well.. their kids forced them XD).

I host regular karaoke parties and have tried all software there is. This is without any doubt the best one. As a cherry on top, the Linux support is excellent. My audio setup is very convoluted and most other programs are unable to correctly split input channels but with this it works wonders.

Es un earlyacces y se le nota, pero tiene potencial, con un editor de canciones en condiciones que sea facil de usar se pueden hacer cosas muy interesantes, hay alternativas gratuitas, si, pero tienen la interfaz de hace 20 años y no las actualizan hace años...

Excellent game for parties who love Karaoke. The developer is also very committed and making improvements and fixing bugs.
