I have been following this game for quite sometime and ngl, its a pretty fun game. I am bad with shooters in general but was having a lot of fun playing this game after a couple of tries. Now the early access build when I played it, did have few bugs which can be a bit frustrating but manageable. so with enough patches by the devs, I am hoping that we get to see the full and proper game.
Beneath the issues (which I hope are fixed ASAP), there is a fun game underneath. I hope it improves significantly in EA so that way more people can enjoy it. Good luck to the devs.
A great game with tight, responsive controls and great arena combat. Going from shooting to grappling to platforming is seamless, and the platforming feels great. Also has a pretty unique visual style. Highly reccommend.
Firstly, I want to thank the devs for making a brown, queer woman the protag. We don't see nearly enough of characters like her! The art style was beautiful and it was mad fun to fling yourself around and kick robots. Once you got into the groove of it, its a blast. I will say that as the playthrough continued, I felt less and less sure as to where I was supposed to be going. When I would re-enter rooms, sometimes cut scenes would reactivate. I was unable to figure out where to go after I got the red key card. This is not a perfect game, but I recommend it because it was fun! The mechanics are great and I was elated to be playing the protag as she is. Thanks Avian Hearts, looking forward to seeing what you put out in the future.
If controller support and QA is important to you, skip this game, at least for now. I'll wait for some updates before trying it again. Dying repeatedly during the tutorial because movement features aren't properly explained before they're needed... Horrible checkpointing on confusing levels full of insta-kills... Overcomplicated combat revolving around a contextual grappling hook and a gun that keeps disappearing & reappearing from my hand*... it's all kind of half-baked. *I later worked out that weapon swapping was mapped to clicking left-stick, i.e. the easiest one to hit by accident when playing a movement shooter with a controller. Between the weapon swap issue, the abysmal settings navigation (where your cursor disappears if you don't use a 2nd stick to manually scroll), and the "Press A To Start" screen not consistently starting the game when you press A, this feels like the creators have deprioritized controller support. And I can't even say with confidence that decent controller support would make the game more fun. The product description begs a comparison to DOOM Eternal (a game I thoroughly enjoyed with solid controller support) and the most polite thing I can say is, such comparisons are over-ambitious. Not to put too fine a point on it, cel-shading & boxy robots should be design on easy mode, so the fundamentals - how it feels to play, how clear it is what needs to be done (and/or how easy it is to figure it out), the catharsis of doing cool punchy things or solving puzzles, etc. - are what become the central focus. Those, in my opinion, are sorely lacking. I'd have been much more patient if they just called it "Early Access". And again, I'll likely swing back around to this at some point & see if the devs actually do address these issues & tighten up the fundamental mis-fires in its delivery. Because if this is the state they felt comfortable releasing a "Prologue", that doesn't encourage confidence in paying for a full release down the road.
It is what it appears to be, a short action packed, buggy, platform shooter. It has jumping puzzles, fast paced shooting, a thin yet fun plot, it's buggy and you can cheese out and skip sections of some of the jumping puzzles, clipping errors, and general shenanigans, but except for one instance of crashing it was still plenty fun. I couldn't actually finish the game because the final boss keeps bugging out, but that didn't stop me from having plenty of fun for my $7
short review: No. I'm sorry, I wish I could support it, but the game's broken (being and indie and former EA isn't an excuse). Can't even proceed to next area because I can't ''kick'' the bullet. Furthermore, for what little I played, isn't even worth it.
