The short version. No! I do not recommend this game. However, I can accept that it is what some other people might be looking for, so I will explain. Decide for yourself. I was drawn in by what seemed like a Casual repair game. The jazzy part is that you get to work on MECHS and that was awesome to me. I wasn't looking for a mech combat game or any twitch speed trials, I saw a game where you could fix mechs at a leisurely pace, build up a shop and supposedly expand your shot to include stations that would allow you to fix the damaged parts to make more money selling them or to save money by putting the repaired parts back into the mechs you got them from. Can you do that? yes... but there is a small set of minefields you have to walk through and if you are anything like me, you didn't sign up for that hassle. The PROS: The mechs are really well detailed, the parts all fit together logically and you don't really need to know the mechs to get a feel for what their roles are. This is the part of the game I really enjoyed. After a few repairs, you can buy the shop license you need to name your business. Then you proceed as a 'legal' repair shop and can make a bit more on the jobs you do. Then you get your first (and only) logical repair station. It is called the Decorrosion Station. You get to shoot the rust off corroded parts with a laser. Who wouldn't like that? It's all nice and relaxed, no rush, you just hunt down rusty spots and blast them carefully. Don't overshoot or you might damage the part. When you are don't fixing a part, you see that your station has 'fuel' for some reason. Generally the fuel for lasers is electricity, but not in this paradigm. However, this station uses a flat rate of 20% fuel per part, no matter how large it is. Thus the price of this repair is easily calculable and reasonable. It is generally always worth it to clean a rusty part and it will save you a ton of money. GREAT!~ This is where the real PROS end for me. The DONT CARES: There is a background storyline that you used to be associated with criminals. now they want you to fix up their illegal mechs and if you do, they reward you with black market tickets. Each ticket lets you buy one black market part. Yay. It's a cheap broken part you have to fix anyway. don't care, never used them. The painting station is needed for some jobs. The quality of the painting system is so terrible that I only do what I need to do for getting a job done. It tells you what palate to use and exactly which numbered colors to apply. I pick one, paint the entire mech that color... which rarely actually looks like the color it represents, and then I apply a small patch of each of the other colors just to flag that they have been used. part of the trouble is the interface, part of it is the fact that the beautifully rendered models are not fully paintable and the colros don't appear accurately. the decals also are badly implemented. (I tried to put matching marks on the left and right side of a mech. On the right side, the mark was vertical. When I tried to put that same mark on the same spot on the other leg, it turned it sideways... No idea how to turn a decal, nno controls on screen to tell you this, so if it is possible, I don't know. It's dumb and I don't use it. The CONS: Buckle up, this one is gonna be a biggie. Every other 'station' in the game follows the same stupid fuel mechanic. fuel, whatever it is (Money is what it costs you) depletes on a timer. just looking at the game is costing you money. None of the minigames at the stations like electronics or welding is 'bad' it just isn't good because it can and will often cost you more to fix it than to just buy a new one. Totally the wrong idea for the thing in the first place. couple that with the fact that you have to buy the station and it might never actually pay for itself, not every damaged part can be repaired, and even when you do, they don't become 'high' quality... they often are not worth it. I've gotten really lucky and massively unlucky. About an hour ago, while I was playing this game, I was trying to fix a cable. It would have cost me about2500 to buy it. It was a repair job and I've been lucky with cables before. Why not? I had six games in a row where the solution was impossible. meanwhile, I burned out four full tanks of fuel, costing over 10K to try and save about 2500. On the seventh run I got it quickly and it only cost me an addition 600. If that had been the first try, it would have saved me money, but it wasn't.. The fuel is one of the biggest 'stupid factors' in this game. If it wee removed, my opinion of the game would be much higher. Still, I go onward. Then I unlocked a Garage. I was a little surprised and then discovered you could buy junk mechs and rebuilt them. 'House Flipper' vibes hit me and I bought a mech, fixed it up nicely, and saw that I had only lost about 45% of my money. Yay. there is no buy it, fix it, and sell it for profit. However, according to the internet, if you spend the time to remove every single part, repair the ones you can and sell them all, you can make money on it. It just takes a ton of time you could be using to make money repairing mechs instead of button mashing on the market screen. After the repair type station, I got another one, called a 'Calibration Station'. This is like the pilot box for remote controlling the mech. ... I didn't sign up to be a pilot... but if it makes my mechs worth more, I'll give it a try. (Note: One additional 'stupid' about this station is that the tutorial on it is stuck in that you have to succeed at calibrating a mech or it never goes away and thus prevents you from getting any otehr stations, like the Mission table) Now to 'Calibrate a mech, you need to connect to it. This involves the most 'brain dead' piece of 'programming' I've ever seen. You need to fill up all lines of the code box. One of them is an error, so you have to skip that one with a skip next line command. You start a loop. You put add(2) into the loop which runs 4 times in this instance. You are told you need to accumulate a value of 7. You have one other command, subtract one. Can you figure this one out? Do you need to dust off that old programming manual for grade school? Once you connect, the real stupidity of this begins. there are three types of mechs, I don't reacall the third type but I was using a 'scout' type with agility mechanics. I also tried it with a battle mech. Both are equally frustrating and wasted my time. in the agility mission, you have to parkour around the 'course' that is generated in your garage. Now I say generated because the rest of the gam is in high res realistic graphics, but the course looks like a bad video game from the 1970s. Flashing, translucent, blocks float in teh air, you have to jump onto them and run around. You have to do sliding to go under some and 'wall-running' to go up a wall apparently. I never got that to work so I couldn't finish it. That is also a limited timed trial so you fail after a minute. I looked online, found the 'complete Guide' and was rewarded with the advice by my guru ... "This is the most frustrating part of this game. Skip it." I tried again on the combat mission. first you have to destroy four turrets. I was in the toughest battle mech in the game I think. Wiping out four turrets, fairly easy. In the many many times I had to replay this, I did occasionally get beat by those turrets... but mostly I beat them... then you get surrounded by a swarm of flying gun drones. I have no idea how many there were. I'm going to guess like 20 of them. After many deaths and restarts, I checked my internet guru again and he advised that only a few of them attack at once. concentrate on those, following some red indicators or such I couldn't see. After an hour of trying the 'only shott the nes wo are shooting at me method' and failing over and over... I quit. That's my experience. I hope it helps.
Imagine running your own mechanic shop. A customer walks in and says "I need you to fix my car for $400." and you say "Well, hold on there. Let's figure out what's wrong--" and he cuts you off and says "Right then $400. Take it or leave it." and you try to explain that, that's not how mechanic shops work. You need to figure out what's wrong with his car and what parts are needed and then you factor the cost of those parts and the cost of labor and determine the cost of the repair and then that guy leaves and creates this game. I completed the tutorial and then I was presented with a set of mechs and their monetary reward for repairing them and a set of ??? for what parts they need. I picked one and scanned it and found out the parts it needed and..... those parts cost more than the payment I would receive for fixing that mech. So I put the broken parts back on and sent it out of my shop, and was penalized money for doing so. I uninstalled the game.
Game has received a post-launch update containing undisclosed AI-generated assets. It's also just boring. They somehow made a game about giant mechs boring.
-gets game in bundle -decides to play it despite negative reviews -gets to the point of forming a legit mechanic business and go bankrupt because cant afford parts on next job -game gives me a one time 2,000 $ buy out from the bank... but do to a banking error (an integer underflow) I receive 2147,483,547 $ 11/10 would do bank fraud again
Contains undisclosed AI generated assets. Avoid. Other than that, it is simply dull.

tl;dr - run of the mill mechanic simulator with an annoying android giving off some nonsensical comments and standing in your way. you have ZERO setting options that you actually need. There is some Motion Blar active, but theres no option for it available. Also i'm pretty sure Mouse Acceleration is activated and not an option. Both are incredible annoying and making me motion sick while playing. The loop starts to get boring pretty quickly and even new repair stations have a boring and lackluster gameplay. Tutorial is "here have a read" and you'll never be able to check things again. I'll rate this game: I just wiped my memory so I don't have to remeber this / 10 Thanks for the read and have a wonderful rest of your day <3
The mechanic part is fun, if a bit repetitive. Working on big mechs is cool. But: 1) The game drastically needs a lot of options that aren't available (motion blur removal, paint masking, repeated cutscene skipping, custom keybinding) 2) The tutorials will sort of kind of walk you through what you need to do. But if you miss a tutorial, there's no way to get it back, and since there's no keybinding or anything you're left with only internet searches to figure out what you need to do. 3) The 'Calibration' mode (AKA the 'Play with a Mech' mode) is absolutely terribly implemented. The controls are awful (and again, not customizable), the timers are pointless for something that's supposed to be a repair/calibration, and the difficulty is overtuned for what is supposed to be a casual game, not a platformer.
I thought it was a great idea. Cool theme... But nothing implemented in this game is fun. Maybe it's the pacing that's the culprit, but I'm probably not going to play this anymore. The fuzzy everything, the motion blur, the mediocre music... Hurts my head. In the hour it says I played this game, it feels like I've played for 10, that's how much of a slog it is sometime. But in that one hour, I've repaired like 16 mechs. And it's always been the same 3. I wager there's more later on, but I don't even care to try to get there. It made it feel like I've pretty much done everything worth doing in the first 4 repairs. It just... was so... boring. What makes Car Mechanic interesting/fun is figuring out what is wrong with the vehicle and figuring out the best way to approach the fix while making sure the whole thing still works. Additionally, the stuff required to do is always a lot, even in the beginner jobs, so it's pretty engaging for longer periods. Here, it's all, pretty linear, and it will always works, and in those 16 jobs I did, I think 12 of them were to fix 1 single thing. Hell, even the part names give me a headache. It's just like "chassis" and a part serial number... There's no description, there's not feeling of "oh yes, I should replace this so it can do the thing." Point is; it's just generally boring and hurts my head. What a shame.
