May's Mysteries: The Secret of Dragonville Remastered

I just refunded the game and sent those few lines to the support: "This game says "remastered" in its title, but in fact it's just reworked for consoles and should not have been re-released on pc. No resize option -> tiny window on a big screen Some puzzles are unplayable (guess it's bad optimization for faster cpus)" Don't buy, even on sale.

REVISED REVIEW: I initially thumbed this game up because it was problematic, but it's great to see Professor Layton style games under a different IP, and on PC. But it's really an bad port. If this was the devs only game on steam, I'd probably give them the slack, but they have 4 games on steam. There's really no excuse for it to be in this poor of shape. I badly want to change this back to a thumbs up, but that's entirely up to the devs. Below is mostly the same I had to say when I had thumbed up the game.... I haven't gotten very far, and already it's problematic. It seems to be a bad PC port sadly. I'm thumbing it up because it's a great game concept, but if you play it on PC, you are playing a broken experience. And on Steam Deck it's even more broken, but still playable if you don't mind all the cut scenes being broken. It starts with no resolution or full screen options. It is one single size. There's a Windows shortcut to make it full screen, I believe alt + enter? It would be nice to at least say that, but there should be basic video options. When you go to leave, there's no menu option to close it, just standard Windows ways. The second puzzle is a rhythm puzzle. It's as far as I've gotten. It has a tutorial which is nice, but it seems fundamentally broken. There's no cues on what to play. It brings up Playstation controller buttons. I only have an xbox controller, so i plugged that in, and hitting the corrosponding symbols didn't work. Plus these indicators flash on and off in a way that looks broken. Not like a rhythm game. I was able to fumble thorugh it by mouse clicking, which is completely contrary to the indicated playstation buttons they want you to press. But then you press on keys. It's far too alkward. I was able to just spam a single key and get past the puzzle, but I imagine I'll be locked out of progress because of how it looks like there's no effort to the PC port. It really seems to be a greatly designed game. The whole idea of the game, the animation, the characters are just so good. I really can't express how strongly I am glad this exists. But this is in a really bad port technically. And really no excuse for a dev with more than 1-2 games on steam to be in this state.

The music almost sounds like a sped up version of Professor Layton and the Diabolical box - puzzle 3. The game plays similarly to the Professor Layton games. The graphics look very similar in style as well. The puzzle variety is enjoyable and the skips are useful for puzzles that may be too difficult for a person to solve. There are some bugs but it doesn't seem as though the bugs will prevent you from completing the game yet. They are mainly just glitchy mechanics, like when dragging/ rotating a tangram shape that is overlapping another, both will start moving. Some puzzles are hard to get the game to register as complete, like the 2 boards over the water to get to the monument puzzle. I had to do the correct solution over 3 times before it was detected as correct. This led me to waste a lot of time trying other things in between the attempts (Basically the game makes you feel like you have the solution wrong if its not perfectly lined up).

A not too shabby Professor Layton knockoff.

Может игра и не плохая, но по мне так нелепая, но поражает в ней не это, а техническая составляющая. Игра 2022 года пресловутом "Unity", но: она запускается в маленьком окне, и нет возможности развернуть её на весь экран. Не, ну нашёл как, этож "Unity". нужна в параметрах запуска написать "-screen-fullscreen 1". Здорово, правда? Когда игра развернулась на весь экран я узрел такое "мыло", что как будто я игру из 90х годов запустил на 4к мониторе. Короче это явно очень ленивый порт с мобилок из которого даже нельзя выйти, такой кнопки тоже нет.
