$16 on sale/$20 is a small price to pay for the promise of a very solid game of this genre. There is a learning curve to the node-matching (this is a very good thing, makes it unique) and as soon as you feel like you have the hang of it, the early access portion ends. There are some spelling errors, and some "GrApHiC DeSiGn Is mY PaSsIoN" moments, but when you've seen these pop up 20 times in a desperate attempt to train these cute characters, it's passable. The devs don't deserve negative reviews for placeholder text. I have a couple of hours in bejeweled(60hr), a couple in hunie pop(10hr), some in puzzle quest(50hr), and this matching system has still managed to feel unique, especially with all the characters having different abilities that you need to learn & play around. The option to go vs a different character is very nice to break up the pace of constant stress-leveling the next war target. I do not care for romancing, but the characters are friend shaped and I very much wish to keep them alive. I bought this in-person at the PAXAUS booth and the promoters were very happy to answer my ridiculous questions, I think the only question that mattered was: "Who will be the meanest to me?". They answered. I paid. I played. I am not disappointed.
very fun and promising game! adds some cool twists to the standard match 3 gameplay, and once you find your favourite character all you want to do is talk to them everyday! excited for full release!
I want to give this game a positive review because I love the concept but I am maybe an hour or two into the game and I've seen a litany of bugs from repeating dialogues to visual glitches that require a game restart to clear. When you see a game has left EA you kind of expect it to be at least a little polished particularly towards the beginning of the game.
I've only reached 15 days in-game so far but I truly adore the game so far. My favorite thing out of the way first, the voice-acting is really charming even from voice actors I may not have heard of before. It's very high-quality, charming and makes the characters come to life. That brings me to my next favorite part, the characterization of the different residents of the dungeon is surprisingly realistic for such an outlandish setting. I've felt butterflies sitting in a worm-lit cavern with Calyx the vampire herbalist/medic, and I was so happy to drink tea every day with AJ the minotaur with the heart of gold. To this extent, when the dungeon was under attack I was genuinely concerned for the characters, and the unease that the attack left in the dungeon was palpable. I'm personally a big fan of match-3 games and this one does not disappoint. I find myself having to pause for the day when I become overwhelmed, rather than bored, from the day-to-day life in the game's setting, and that is a great thing for a game like this to have. Lastly, the character design. My God the character design. Did you see Vanora? No, seriously. Did you see her?? She's SO pretty. And Philomela?? I could tell she'd be awesome company from the first interaction. And Calyx.... wow. I'm gay. For a game from such a small team I have been utterly blown away and my hospital bill for full recovery will bankrupt my family for generations to come. I am rubble. And I'm loving this game.
I bought this game in early access last year and loved it. The storyline is interesting. The characters are gorgeous. The combat mechanism - essentially gem-matching, like Bejewelled - is simple and turn-based. As someone with mobility issues, I appreciated that hugely. When I saw 'dungeon dating', I thought 'hmmm, dating evil characters - interesting premise'... instead, the evil folk are the ones OUTSIDE the dungeon, and the monsters are the good-aligned ones. The characters are amazing. They range from stern and parental to soft and gooey sweetness to utterly chaotic drunken-shenanigan instigators... 😆 I love them all, and can't wait to play the full-release version soon.
A fun game with interesting and unique strategy elements to the match 3 game play, it has a rich interesting story to go along with it that. All of the characters are well developed with great stories and quirks. This game has an abundance of representation in it, with each character being unique and varied so it is easy to find characters to relate to. All in all, if you are looking for a game with a good match 3 mechanics and lovable characters this game would be worth a go.
Looking for a fun, casual game that is full of magic, relationship building, and epic gem-matching battles? If so, you should check this one out! Learn different strategies with your gem matching to unlock unique powers against a variety of challenging opponents while you play through the storyline, build strong relationships, and keep the dungeons safe from the invading forces. Here you play as a newly dead creature of the night who is tasked with the role of protecting the dungeon from the land of the living. You learn that the monsters that reside here aren't really the danger - the humans are! Help your new friends with tasks, build up friendships (and maybe more), and develop your talents as a gem-wielding powerhouse that will keep this dark world safe. The world is very inclusive and is welcoming for everyone. My personal favorite so far is the vampire Calyx, healer extraordinaire and all around sweetie! Each NPC has their own special personality, goals, and strengths. It's a lot of fun for casual play, but is fully able to immerse you in the world as far as you would like to go with its fun dialogue, cute art, and interesting game mechanics! I'm really loving this game and it's my new go-to for relaxing and winding down!
You get to date so many cuties!
It's a cute game about being a skeleton who's tasked with protecting a lich's dungeon. All the while you get to train with and get to know the fellow denizens - all of whom are fun takes on the stereotypical monsters. They're all charming and cute in their own way. The gameplay loop of training with everyone via the match-3 battle system is fun and straightforward - because if you win a match your training partner gets stronger, if they win, you get stronger via better rewards. All the while you have the forces of light hanging over your head. Also there's some great humour if you ever need a chuckle.
Puzzle game meets dating sim. It's a charming game with lovable characters.
