This FMV could have been so much better. It's a decent length, around 3 hours or so. At the time of this review, I haven't finished all endings. I'm guessing another 3-6 hours to watch all cutscenes and complete the game. There's a few reasons why I'm giving this one a negative review. - The menu and UI are very plain and there's no music. - Each chapter is a standalone story, making it feel as if this is multiple different games. You rarely see other characters in different chapters other than their own chapter, further taking away the unity of the game. - I do not like how this game is structured. The game just randomly ends when taking certain routes. You'll have to play to understand what I'm taking about. It doesn't make sense. I guess they are endings? - The item exploration mode (when you inspect stuff) is just terrible... that alone almost had me give this a negative review. The way it's incorporated in the game is completely unnecessary and gratuitous. The MC merely picks up the object and looks at it for 5-10 seconds, doesn't say anything, and places it back where it was. That's it. I was very irritated every time it made you inspect items. It was completely pointless. I liked the characters and that's about it. Everything else was poorly put together. Only give this FMV a try if it's on sale
Pretty girls, nice love stories and kind of interesting to see all the content. The only issue is that there are no achievements to be unlocked.
A nice little love adventure that leaves you on a wholesome hopeful note. Highly recommended if you love romance.
I enjoy the game
Master of Love, developed and published by Root3Games, is a full-motion video romance simulation that blends interactive storytelling with the emotional tone of a Korean drama series. Rather than relying on animated character sprites or conventional gameplay systems, it presents its narrative through live-action performances viewed from a first-person perspective, placing players directly into the role of its protagonist. The result is a cinematic, choice-driven experience that focuses entirely on emotional development, relationship building, and the possibility of rewriting one’s past. The story centers on Jun-Ho, a 33-year-old man whose life has not unfolded as he once hoped. Disillusioned by failed relationships and missed opportunities, he finds himself inexplicably transported back a decade into his past on the night of his birthday. This time-reversal premise becomes the engine of the narrative, offering a second chance to reconnect with pivotal figures from his earlier years. Instead of functioning as a fantastical time-travel adventure, however, the story remains grounded in realistic interpersonal dynamics. The focus is not on altering history through grand gestures, but on revisiting moments of hesitation, regret, and emotional misunderstanding. Throughout the game, players encounter five women who each represent distinct emotional chapters in Jun-Ho’s life. These characters are not archetypes but individuals with unique personalities, histories, and unresolved tensions. Interactions unfold through branching dialogue choices, with each decision subtly shifting relationship trajectories. Some choices nurture trust and rekindle affection, while others reopen old wounds or reinforce distance. The branching structure allows for multiple endings, encouraging players to explore different relational paths and observe how nuanced dialogue variations lead to dramatically different outcomes. The use of FMV is central to the experience. Scenes are filmed with actors who convey emotional nuance through facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language. The first-person camera perspective strengthens immersion, as characters address the player directly, creating the illusion of eye contact and personal involvement. Unlike traditional visual novels, where imagination fills in performance gaps, Master of Love relies on live performances to communicate emotional stakes. This approach heightens authenticity, though it also means the experience is shaped by the actors’ ability to carry dramatic weight. Mechanically, the game is minimalistic. There are no inventory systems, skill trees, or action sequences. Progression depends entirely on dialogue and interaction choices. This streamlined structure places emphasis on emotional engagement rather than strategic complexity. A single playthrough lasts several hours, but the presence of multiple branching endings extends replay value. Revisiting earlier chapters to experiment with different responses reveals new layers of character backstory and alternative narrative outcomes. Thematically, Master of Love explores regret, nostalgia, and personal growth. Its time-reversal premise acts as a metaphor for the universal desire to correct past mistakes. The narrative repeatedly examines how small decisions and moments of silence can shape the trajectory of a relationship. Rather than presenting love as idealized fantasy, it portrays romance as fragile and contingent upon communication and vulnerability. The story suggests that second chances are not about rewriting destiny but about approaching familiar situations with newfound self-awareness. Visually and aurally, the production reflects its indie scale but maintains consistent quality. Lighting and framing emphasize intimacy, often situating conversations in everyday settings such as cafés, apartments, or office spaces. Background music is subtle, reinforcing emotional tone without overwhelming dialogue. Multilingual subtitle support broadens accessibility, allowing a wider audience to engage with the Korean-language performances. While the game’s FMV format and slower pacing may not appeal to players seeking mechanical challenge or high interactivity, its strengths lie in emotional authenticity and narrative focus. It operates more as an interactive romantic drama than a traditional game, inviting players to inhabit a character’s emotional journey rather than conquer objectives. For those drawn to character-driven storytelling and branching romance narratives, Master of Love offers a reflective and immersive experience that lingers beyond its final scene, asking players to consider how differently they might approach their own missed opportunities if given another chance. Rating: 8/10
