Master Magistrate

Master Magistrate is a good visual novel that feels a bit weird to me. It feels almost like three different visual novels. There's the somewhat serious adventure style investigating and trial sections, 2/5 heroine routes are dramatic, and 3/5 heroine routes are full of light slice of life stories. All the characters present here are pretty entertaining. There's nothing too outside the norm here, all fitting fairly well into some standard stereotypes, but they're done well. Music is pretty well done, but also nothing outstanding. Systems are straightforward, game ran fairly well for me, only minor complaint is that you can't skip the endings ever, and they have small epilogue sections after, so you have to sit through them every time. Onto the story. I really enjoyed the tone of the adventure sections with investigating and trial. It even started off fairly serious with a murder trial and continued to stay with a more serious tone throughout. I'm not sure how everyone would fare, but if you're paying attention throughout all the investigating sections you should be able to complete the trials without much trouble, I got 100% through all of them without using a guide - Chapter 4 spoilers - [spoiler] although I did die twice in Chapter 4 [/spoiler]. Post the "common route" the investigations and trials completely end and you're left with the five heroine routes - three (Rimu, Sakura, and Koume) of which are unlocked initially and the other two requiring a few small choices to unlock. These three are pretty straightforward slice of life routes that - to me - felt like an entirely different game. The tone felt changed where everything was very light-hearted. For these three routes I didn't vibe with them super well for some reason since it felt like such a departure from the rest of the game. The last two heroine routes (Shino and Ayaka) maintain a feeling similar to the common route of the game in my opinion, being somewhat more serious in tone. I really liked these two, and found them to be entertaining and emotional at times. They are significantly less horny than the other routes though if it matters to you. I'd recommend Master Magistrate to most readers who are interested in good mystery stories and want to figure out crimes. If you're only interested in moege moments you may want to skip this one since the main story is focused a lot more heavily on the investigating and trials than it is on that, and I don't think the three slice of life routes are very strong.

挺一般的 不少错别字，推理部分有的地方很牵强，还不完整得自己去网上下补丁， 但是打折买的，也不要求那么高，没有游戏玩的时候玩玩也行

推理+幕末+和风，是我喜欢的东西。推荐。

各方面都很舒服的作品，唯独不适合当成GAL……推理略简单但精彩的演出弥补了这一点。

主线很精彩，远山樱在个人线里挺可爱的

Master Magistrate — редкий пример визуальной новеллы, которая не просто заигрывает с детективным жанром, а действительно строит на нём всю свою структуру. По описанию Steam, это история о молодом магистрате Симею Ооке, который должен расследовать преступления, допрашивать подозреваемых и выносить решения в городе вечной сакуры на фоне Японии, стоящей на пороге модернизации. Уже сама завязка удачно выделяет игру среди множества VN: вместо привычной школьной романтики здесь — самураи, чиновники, изобретатели, бандиты и почти судебный формат с явным уклоном в расследование. Главная сила Master Magistrate — в том, как она сочетает «текстовую» природу визуальной новеллы с ощущением настоящего дела. Steam отдельно подчёркивает, что игроку предстоит опрашивать свидетелей, собирать досье, исследовать места преступлений и затем проводить слушания, сужая круг подозреваемых. На практике именно эта связка делает игру живой: она напоминает не столько чисто кинетическую VN, сколько смесь исторического детектива и лёгкого courtroom-drama. Внешние обзоры и пользовательские впечатления нередко сравнивают её с Phoenix Wright, хотя у Master Magistrate заметно более «новелльный» ритм и больший акцент на персонажей, чем на чистую логику головоломок. Отдельно игре идут в плюс стиль и атмосфера. Исторический антураж здесь не выглядит сухой декорацией: важную роль играют и повседневная жизнь магистратуры, и общий фон эпохи, где старые порядки сталкиваются с переменами. Steam обещает более 150 CG, саундтрек из 40 с лишним композиций и полную японскую озвучку, и по отзывам со стороны именно визуальная подача, музыка и актёрская работа заметно усиливают погружение. Но без слабых мест не обошлось. Несколько внешних отзывов отмечают, что игра не всегда одинаково сильна именно в дедуктивной части: отдельные слушания и выборы могут казаться слишком расплывчатыми, а стартовая глава — чуть медленной по темпу. Из-за этого Master Magistrate местами воспринимается сильнее как хорошо написанная историческая VN с элементами расследования, чем как по-настоящему строгий детективный конструктор. В итоге Master Magistrate — очень удачная жанровая вещь для тех, кто любит визуальные новеллы с расследованиями, ярким сеттингом и сильным персонажным составом. Это не самая выверенная детективная игра на свете, но как атмосферная самурайская история с судебно-следственным нервом она работает отлично.

Art is great. Story is good. Voice acting is superb. BGM is decent. Rimu is best girl. Grabbing this on sale is a steal. Rimu is best girl.
