Fun game, but terrible translation! We laughed at a lot of the lines for how awkward they were written. Developers, please get a proper translation!!
Be careful, you need two versions of this game to play. Nice coop game idea but very short. It took less than two hours to play through.
I love Phoenix Wright style games - where you spot contradictions between witness testimonies and the evidence. The problem though is how difficult to make the contradictions - make it too simple, then the game is too easy. If it's too tough, then tough luck finishing the game without walkthroughs. Mark and Lara gets around this with a novel concept - you and another co-op buddy (cannot play solo) are questioning two separate witnesses to the same incident. You need to have some sort of voice setup (discord, call) to discuss your findings and spot the contradictions. The game was just the right amount of difficulty - and it is always better playing as two people. The art was alright, the dialogue was passable and the interface was fine. (except for the one time that it bugged out; restarting the game made it alright) So why have I given it a negative review? The game is too short - there's only a single case. It was a good case, but we were sooo disappointed. 90 minutes - maybe 2 hours of gameplay at best. I will revisit the review if more cases are added. They have a solid foundation for a great game.
Really fun and short game to play with a friend with a really interesting way of playing with each other. No need to invite or create a private game, just play normally and the story line will add up as long as you two are co-operating. Very well made game!
Voto: 10/10
Bought this game tonight and immediately played though it. My friend and I are huge fans of the "We were here" games and have struggled to find similar ones after playing though the first two. We tried "Tic Tok" and a few coop platformer but nothing could really match up to "We were here". Until now at least. "Mark & Lara" is an amazing coop game. You don't need the internet, just the game and you are set for about 2,5 hours of fun. That's about how much time it took us to play though it once and we will again soon in order to experience the story out of both character's perspectives. So for 4 bucks you have ~5 hours of playtime, which is solid imo. The story itself is amazing and really pulled us in. It really feels like investigating and we really enjoyed it. The game consists of talking to one of the two suspects, "official" documents and documentations of conversations. You have to really concentrate and look for the details and compare what the two suspects say in order to find the solution. Teamwork is necessary. The story was surprising in quite a few points and it was refreshing to not have a standart "why I killed him" plot but something more complex. We developed a good amount of theories of what could have happened and none of them turned out to be the correct one in the end. The game is also fairly easy, the controlls are good and everything is pretty easy to understand. The game is not perfect by any means, though. We struggled when we had to "google" stuff in the lab because even with the "correct" search term it didn't work or we struggled a lot to find saird search term. There were also a few moments when the "compare x and y conversation and find the difference" because there were so many clashed we did not know which one to chose. The music was annoying after a short while but you can turn that off very easily. If you are looking for a few hours of fun and like detective games, this is a clear recommendation for you!
i really can't be bothered trying to make the mental loops to figure out what the next direction is. it got to the point where it's just frustrating and not even fun anymore because you're pulling your hair out trying to understand what the hell the clues mean and when you find it, there's zero correlation. that should never, ever ever EVER be the case in these kinds of mystery/detective games - i'm sorry but i can't recommend this to anyone, no matter what price. it's not fun to play.
Played this with my brother and I really like the game a lot!! I need MORE!! I like how the hint is not too revealing, but there was one moment where both of us are so frustrated (very close to calling it quit), but we figure it out and that's just soooo satisfying! It's even more challenging the fact that it's just released so there is no guide/cheat online whatsoever. Highly recommended and can't wait for the next game or update, love the storyline too!
Mark & Lara is a nice, easy to play, casual asymetrical co-op game. You can easily grab your "not so much of a gamer" friend to play on mobile and spend a nice time (less than 2 hours in our case) working this case. It's true that the search part of the game where you have to find clues on a browser can be a little frustrating, but nothing that actually takes away the nice overall pace and gameplay. So, kick back, and enjoy the interrogations!
This was wonderful! A very fresh idea, lots of fun and nice not to have to rely on an internet connection to play co op. Sadly, a very short experience but hoping this was just the teaser and we'll see a full game! Thanks guys, I enjoyed this a lot!
