Recomendo
|《Marimoth》 |

Marimoth is a pretty simple shoot ‘em up/bullet hell kind of game. You shoot projectiles diagonally, and they bounce off walls. Defeat enemies to proceed to the next level. Enemies drop coins, for every 50 you get a boost in firepower (more projectiles). Additionally, bosses drop orbs that can be used to continue after dying in exchange for 5 of them. The biggest issue I have with the game is that I think the game could’ve used better visual clarity. Your projectiles, enemy projectiles, and pick-ups all have the same color scheme, and they tend to blur together. As a result, it can be a bit overwhelming to look at. I really think at least coins could’ve looked more distinct. That’s it. That’s pretty much all there is to it. It’s a simple and short, but challenging shoot ‘em up where you play as a moth in 5 different worlds, 5 levels each, the last level is always a boss. There’s no hidden mechanics. There is a hidden boss accessible by not taking damage until the last level. I might attempt it later, but I don’t feel like being a mister perfect run right now, so I’ll pass. That really all there is to Marimoth. Sounds pretty unimpressive, right? I can’t even stretch this material out and be threatened by Steam’s character limit for reviews. Does that make this game bad? No. It’s a decent enough distraction if you’re willing to spend a couple of bucks. The music is nice, and the visuals are decent. There is genuine challenge here, the intensity ramps up in later stages with tougher enemies and onslaught of… everything. But this is the simplest game from Nether Lamp. SMaC! isn’t going to change that. Of course, I wouldn’t be doing my due-diligence if I didn’t watch the Dev Breaks Down His First Steam Game video. It was pretty insightful as always. I don’t have much to say, other than its nice that the developer genuinely liked working on the game. It reminded me of the other game I played recently, The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest, which was clearly the devs goofing around and making something really wacky and fun. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s important to enjoy the process. No matter what you make, you’ll find the fans of your works, even if they end up being very obscure. But yeah, there’s not much to say. I recommend the game, because it’s good enough, but I wouldn’t call it anything amazing. The gimmick of shots being diagonal and managing them with wall bounces is interesting, but otherwise it feels like a standard, short but sweet experience.
