A pretty interesting idea , it's like the dozens of people on the screen at once chaos of Fall Guys meets one of those marble rolling puzzle-platform games, meets something like Wipeout. Keep in mind, it's a racing game but it's not. A lot of the game sees you trying to just stay on the track and getting around, through, or over obstacles, all while any of the dozens of computer-controlled enemies can (and will) knock you off the track or even run into you from behind and blow you up. There are several different modes including lots of tournament races, a battle mode, time trials, daily challenges, about 250 marbles to collect, create your own tracks and upload them, or just setup an auto race using a bunch of different parameters and watch the chaos. There's a lot of content here. The game itself though, well, it can be frustrating. It's as much about chaos and randomness as it is racing. You WILL be in first place and just nick the corner of some obstacle and go careening off the track, or you WILL get into a logjam with other marbles and it'll be your marble that gets bounced off the track, or you WILL fall through a hole in the track and get moved unfairly back several sections of the track and watch as you go from 2nd place to 35th in the blink of an eye. I kind of wish it was a little more about racing than everyone constantly knocking into each other, but it is what it is. Brush up on your curse words beforehand as you'll be using a lot of them.
There is a lot to like about Marble Champions and it is an enjoyable experience in the main and now that the initial issues on launch have been fixed it is a much better experience all around. I can now change my review from negative to positive. Game play consists of racing against a bunch of other marbles in a league setting and trying to earn points by finishing in the top ten. Each level has a target points total to reach before you get promoted to the next level and a higher points total is set. You can race endlessly on procedural generated tracks as many times as you like in pursuit of the points total. Each time you reach a new level this will unlock new marbles to buy or you can win them by competing in tournaments which are also unlocked by reaching higher levels in the league. The tracks are quite imaginative with various hazards like spikes, jumps, hammers, magnets, and boxes to avoid whilst also keeping an eye on your opponents too. They can barge you off the track by bumping into you and you can do the same to them although they seem to be much better at it. If you boost and crash into another marble you can destroy them meaning they have to return to the last checkpoint. There's lots of high speed corners and chevrons which boost your speed and sometimes you can cheat a little and drop off a ledge to the track below and get away with it. I'm not sure if that is meant to happen? Game play feels quite frantic, especially when a bunch of you go around a corner together and the sound effects of marbles crashing together sounds very satisfying. There is also a time trial section where you can try and beat the current fastest time and have that recorded and race against your ghost, a battle mode where there are a few games played in an arena against your opponents, and daily trials to try and beat. It's a massive shame there is no online multiplayer like in Fall Guys but there is local multiplayer up to four people. I had a go on the track editor and it was surprisingly easy to use and to create a nice track to share, but I couldn't work out how to complete the track and race on it which is a requirement before you share it. I saved the track and tried to run on it but the marble fell through the track at the start and crashed the game. Obviously, there is an issue there but apart from that the track editor was very good.
🍳Conclusion🍳

The initial issues with jumping and boosting have been rectified so please disregard any reviews mentioning this. I have tested it and the controls are actually more responsive than ever, so Marble Champions has become so much better with these tweaks and I can definitely recommend this one now. The next evolution would be to have online multiplayer and that would elevate this title immensely but until then, there's plenty to do as a single player but achievements always help with motivation so I'd like to see them added too. Super fun game with a load of single player content. Feels like a good mix of Super Monkey Ball and Fall Guys. My only problem is i cant get it to go back to full screen on my Steam Deck ???????
Monkey Ball meets Fall Guys meets Impossible Road. If that sounds like your jam, this is the game for you! Massive props to the developer who responded to and resolved some technical issues in less than 24 hours! I can confirm the game now runs much more smoothly, and controls are responsive. Do wish we can get an FPS unlock option in the future.
I know my review time is low, but I've already seen most of what this game offers. I really like marble games but unfortunately this one is very stale and repetitive. Pros: - The Fall Guys style races with tons of marbles are with bots, which sounds bad, but I don't think this game could fill a lobby, so at least you can play the game mode still. - 4 Player local co-op is a great option. - The actual controls are average. Having a boost and brake is good. - The game lets you do small skips if you can drop down to a lower part of the track. Cons: - The whole experience is ruined by extremely simplistic tracks. Mostly flat road, half pipes, boosts/ramps, and a few random gimmick obstacles here and there. There ARE longer courses, but many of them are like 20 seconds long for some reason (but even the long ones are just like 5 short ones glued together). Because of this, every race feels the same and it gets repetitive VERY fast. - Overall presentation with the cheap sounding music and constant currency collection makes it feel like a mobile game. Honestly, if this was a game made by like one or two people, I still count it as a success. Game dev is hard, and they should still push out a Marble Champions 2 with better courses and more polish. The concept is good, the execution just needs work.
I am genuinely astounded by how much potential this game has, and how much they absolutely and totally ruined it by making one of the worst designed games I have ever seen in my life. Playing this is worse than water torture.
fun game for once in a while session.
dämliches kackspiel!
Its a fun Racing game
