About
MapCity is a creative map sandbox, not a traditional city management game. You draw and edit the city yourself. The current game does not simulate a city economy or population, and deep city management simulation is not part of the current development plan.
MapCity is still early in development. Expect rough edges and tools that take time to learn. Even if you play other city builders, the workflow may feel unfamiliar. If you enjoy designing places, experimenting with tools, and setting your own goals, it may be a good fit. Please choose it for the experience available today.

If you are looking for a comprehensive toolbox for creating and editing city maps, MapCity may be what you are after. It brings road drawing, building placement, neighborhood development, and map styling into one creative sandbox. You can design an invented town or reshape an existing place, with the freedom to keep changing your layout.

The base game installs in less than 100 MB. No map DLCs are needed to create, edit, and save your own maps.
For your first session, start with a blank map and a small neighborhood. You can draw a road, place buildings beside it, add a park, and save your design. Once you are comfortable with those tools, you can try generating a block with the development tools or expand into another neighborhood. Starting small is the less demanding way to learn, especially on a lower end PC.

MapCity allows you to draw roads with curves, snapping, angle controls, and grids. You can place buildings, land, water, and boundaries, then move or reshape them. Layers, themes, and draw order let you adjust how the map looks. Your work stays editable, so you can revise a street or rebuild a whole area as your design develops.

You can place buildings individually or use development tools to generate roads, parcels, and buildings across a selected area or alongside existing streets. You preview the layout, adjust the options, and add it to the map. The generated streets and buildings remain editable afterward.

Optional free map DLCs provide existing places to explore and edit. You can change their roads and buildings or reshape an area with the same tools you use on a blank map. These are large, optional downloads, not required game files. North America currently needs approximately 114 GB to download and 186 GB when installed, with additional free space needed for installation and updates. Check Steam’s current size estimate and each DLC’s requirements before downloading.
MapCity includes 3D views for exploring your creations from another perspective. They are still in development and can be enabled as an experimental feature in Settings.
A note on performance and storage
Starting with a blank map is the less demanding way to play, especially on a lower end PC. Performance will depend on how large and detailed your creation becomes.
The optional free map DLCs are much more demanding. MapCity processes and renders their extensive map data locally on your PC, so these maps require large downloads, substantial storage, and more capable hardware. Loading and navigation may be slow, or performance may be too limited for comfortable play on a lower end PC. Check each DLC’s storage requirements before downloading.

крайне сыро даже нельзя делать перекрёстки жду патчи покупать сейчас не рекомендую
I was given the opportunity to test the game out a few days before release. It's definitely early access, but I am enjoying it so far. One thing to note is that to play anything other than a blank map, you will need to download the associated region's map data, which can be over 150gb for the North America region. Hopefully the regions can be split into more manageable sizes before too long. On to the game itself. There are a ton of options and tools available to build and modify the world. The UI could use some work, some of the options are buried in menus, and some menus have an overwhelming number of options. Many options have tooltips. There is no tutorial yet. The gameplay is more of a sandbox right now, with statistics, but not very much simulation going on yet. There is more planned, but that part is not implemented at the time of this review.

i am saying, this has potential but it's in current state very clunky and not really what i expected, for now. I might buy this again a year later but just now im not really getting into it, sorry.
First. In all seriousness though its decent. its a bit confusing with the roads and ive only done a bit but its starting to click.
Great for early access. Took me a bit to figure out most of the tools, but I am very impressed and excited for what's to come in the future. A tutorial is definitely needed, although I was able to figure out many of the tools myself. For now it's a great sandbox tool for map lovers and city lovers who don't care much for the city-manager kind of gameplay of cities skylines. Running this on my laptop was surprisingly smooth, and viewing the city in 3D doesn't hurt performance that bad as long as I am zoomed out. Maybe I haven't found it yet, but more guidelines and tools for symmetry would be useful. Overall looking forward to future development progress although the game is entirely playable currently.
Been looking for something like this for a while! Exceeding my expectations so far
good start. Some bugs need fixing, some things need more explanation, and of course more of the world and more content on the gameplay side will be nice when it comes.
Pretty good map maker for a early access. Definetely needs some polishing but the game works quite well for the early state its in. The tools are intuitive and easy to use tough sometimes a bit rough around the edges. Its easy to draw an entire city in an hour and you can also get lost it detail. Editing the real world is also fun, tough the map data size is sinful at 100GB, but thats not the devs fault. All in all, prettey solid map maker game 7/10.
Already becoming obsessed by it. It's a very long way from being done, but what's all ready on offer is more than promising. This isn't Cities: Skyline, Sim City et al; this is something closer to mapping software like Wonderdraft than a management sim. Whether that floats your boat or not, who knows. It floats mine. though. And that's what matters.
MapCity shows lots of promise for it's future and the endless possibilities that comes with it. I'm excited to see what else is in store!
