So first up, they're not kidding about the photosensitivity warning. The monster summons strobe aggressively in a way that makes even my non-epileptic eyes water. They *do not* need all that strobing, but it does kinda fit with the vibe of this being scuffed Monster Rancher. A lot of graphics feel like flipped assets. Not everything goes together. The cards look rough. The interface is sometimes confusing, and the monsters walk a line between spyro and world of warcraft. However, I player Monster Rancher Ultra Kaiju earlier in the year and it felt frustrating in ways this doesn't. Mamon King does a better job explaining how it works, has better convenience features, and is less aggressive with missing attacks than its parent game. There's some caveats to all of that (it doesn't tell you accuracy percentages, and with a high enough hit/avoid differential you can't hit at all) but it's still pretty wild to see something this low budget outflanking what used to be a AAA. There's a good density of monsters here, with more you can unlock by beating certain tournaments and fighting boss monsters while on vacation, and individual monsters feel pretty different---partly due to growth preferences, but more significantly because of the differences in their movesets. A good amount of care was put into making sure everything has a couple valid playstyles---it's no Monster Sanctuary, but it's still solid. The weaknesses present in Monster Rancher are present here too. This isn't a deeply plot driven game. You build your guy and you put him in tournaments and then you freeze him into a card and feed him to the next guy. However, if you like Monster Rancher, this isn't a bad successor at all and I'd love to see what the team can do with a bit more budget. Credit to the developers for making this, and I hope we'll see a sequel. If you like Monster Rancher and don't mind some jank, this is definitely worth checking out on sale. Edit: Played a bit more. The game's perfectly functional, but I'm not sure I want to go through the grind of raising a second monster. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it.
Good game, this can be monster rancher like game predecessor, but very lack content, lack animation, and felt too rushed, overrall good product if want support this kind of game
