About
Mainframe Defenders: Meltdown - Prologue is a free introductory version of the retro-futuristic tactical game Mainframe Defenders. Command a squad of 4 prototypes to protect the Mainframe from infection by an unknown virus. You will have to fight off assaults, destroy fabricators, download valuable data, clear infected nodes, and much more on your way to the deepest areas of the complex. Bypass the limitations and disadvantages of items and create powerful combinations. Destroy opponents with a variety of tactics: overheat them, destroy them with corrosion, absorb damage and shoot back.Don't rely on a single strategy - enemies may have a way to counter it. The Prologue content:
6 of 24 mechs,
90 of 190 items,
1/3 of missions (1 act).

* RETRO STYLE: Graphics, inspired by 80s terminal PC with hybrid synthwave soundtrack.
* DIVERSE TACTICS: Cook enemy robots to death, bury them under your bullets, eliminate with a single powerful shot, or render your opponents useless with debuffs - this game is designed with a lot of viable strategies in mind.
* BUILD YOUR SQUAD: Similar to how in card games you have to build your deck, in Mainframe Defenders you have to combine different items with unique abilities, to create an unstoppable squad. Work with item drawbacks or double down on them, creating flawed, yet powerful build!
* UNIQUE ENEMIES: Enemy squad won't sit idle, though. Each unit has its own role in the squad and designed to counter certain strategies. Pick your targets wisely, or you will lose.
* PROCEDURAL LEVELS: Hand-made rooms are combined with procedural generation to create random levels. Missions have differing objectives, combined with unique mission conditions. Will you accept the challenge or avoid the unknown and risk falling behind?
* PROGRESSION SYSTEM: Victory or defeat, the game is not over yet! Unlock new units, each with a unique set of upgrades and load-outs. Unlock new items to bolster your new strategies.

całkiem niezła gra porównanie do space crusade......... z Amigi
Neat little turn based tactical game. All I need is more variability with the sound effects. Give each weapon some unique feel, more punch, shredding armor sounds. So you could feel that you are really in the middle of a gargantuan robot confrontation where slugs scream as they tear up armor plating, overheated weapons give out a pleasing hissing sound and electric shrieks fill the halls where ever you purged an enemy.
A fun and not demanding game on hardware! Good to kill time. You can play in the window. Interesting gameplay and funny graphics! Moreover, it is free! I recommend giving this game a try!

This is a fairly comprehensive free demo. You get to play 7 missions of your choosing including difficulty before your play through ends automatically. The full game sees you go through 17 missions spread over 3 tiers, with tiers 2 & 3 featuring tougher enemies and better rewards; there are also 2 mission types not seen in the demo: activate defenses and matter raid (you steal resources). The game will allow you to pick 4 units from a roster of 6 (not 24 [12 classes with 2 initial load outs where A = 2 items but one is tier 2 quality or B = 3 items but they're all tier 1 quality; Model A and Model B have the same upgrade options for the same price] -as per the full game), and it can spawn just under half the possible items. In the full game you will start with the same 6 units as per the demo but every mission completed will earn you research points that will go towards unlocking a randomly selected unit. You can choose to abandon a run if you feel you've fouled your selection. You can then choose to start again from scratch with 4 units from the unlocked selection. How it plays: It is akin to a Japanese style vintage dungeon crawler game where you send in a party of 4 to clear a dungeon before the big bad evil guy can attack the village. The only clock you have to worry about is the tier clock. All missions have no time or turn limit but you won't earn anything extra for speed or kill count either. You are free to move and act in any order and can perform one action with one unit, switch units and come back to them later on. You can choose a retro (80s/90s) pc font that will bring a sense of nostalgia to anyone familiar with MS-DOS / BIOS commands. Each of the squad units can be be coloured to your taste (monochrome but any colour) along with being renamed as you see fit. Each mech type A starts with 2 items (attack & buff) which may be expanded to 4 items. Through game play you maybe awarded new items; you can also craft new items provided you have sufficient matter (money). The items you can craft is re-rolled after each mission. You can select 2 items to 'lock' and thereby saving them in your list of options until you have sufficient resources. There are also squad perks that can appear. You may also have a maximum of 4 of these selected at any one time. By default all the mechs start off with the same stats and effects. However each mech type may be upgraded with 3 perks. The perks are chassis specific and are divided into tiers (1,2,3) and you may only have one from each tier. Choose wisely as they can't be changed later. The default stats for a mech include 2 action points and 1 move action. Some items will increase your action point cap to 3 and your move actions to 2, though there may be penalties for this. Most attacks consume 2 action points, with some needing only 1 and the odd one requiring 3. The only things that took getting used to were: 1) having to play hunt the destruction objective as you aren't spoon feed the location like most modern games. The positive is that maps aren't overly large that it will take ages to find the target. 2) that the orange deployment area in data retrieval was not the download area; the blue tiles are first way point / objective area. The orange tiles are where you must return to after completing the download. 3) you don't earn a bonus for killing sprees; the payout is fixed and there is no xp to earn. Kill quotas only apply to certain missions.
a very good demo. although i cannot buy the game right now its a very solid Battlemech+Xcom+rogue mashup with AMAZING graphics (well thats a bit personal taste but you can see the trailer for yourself)
No i oczywiście istotny jest wybór, w którego wroga strzelamy. No i ,,Korosja'' zamiast ,,Korozja''.
It's a good game, I'm always discovering something new whenever I play it!!!
