Magician's Gambit

it's a fun take on chess! looking forward to multiplayer. would be interesting if there was interaction with the pub environment. i think it would also be more immersive if the goblin guy did more (like react to a play or more variation in idle animations).

Research done over time...2 kids..one plays shooting games, the other reads books..after months, wave scan, CRT scan done on them confirmed brain shrinkage in one. "if you don't use it you lose it", just exactly that..I got this for thinking exercises... Beautifully rendered chess game...the AI response time is really fast...even the Grand Master level, the response is immediate....I beat the old man on the Expert level, there is still Master, Grand Master level to beat... Really put you in a beautiful environment where you are seated across an opponent...if you like to use your brain and think for a change instead of just mindlessly shooting zombies this is an excellent choice..plus at this price how can you go wrong? btw...Grand Master is unbeatable..

dont get to play chess very often so this was a great find for me. all in all a good rendition of the game, needs a few tweeks like the comp not getting stuck when it gets stalemated. looking forward to the multiplayer update (if and when it comes out).

Un très bon jeu d'échecs, très bien réalisé avec de jolis effets graphiques. Les musiques sont plutôt sympa et pas trop rébarbatives. La pièce dans laquelle vous jouez ressemble à une taverne de Gobelins, avec à vos pieds un feu qui crépite. Votre adversaire à une salle tête et peu d'expressions, mais c'est toujours mieux qu'une chaise vide. Graphiquement le jeu est plutôt joli, avec des effets sur les pièces (mise en échec, mat, ...). Le tout en étant bien optimisé pour n'avoir aucun lag, même en poussant les graphismes et le sursampling au maximum (144fps sur Valve Index avec le SS à 200% sur une 2080Ti). Les contrôles sont bien pensés, simple mais efficace, et les options de confort suffisantes pour ce type de jeu. Actuellement le jeu est uniquement solo, il est indiqué multi pour le futur, mais le jeu semble abandonné, donc peu de chance de voir de nouvelle mise à jour. Le jeu est en Early Acces, et le restera définitivement à mon avis. Ayant un faible niveau aux échecs, je ne pourrais vous dire si le jeu conviendra aux meilleurs, mais moi le premier niveau de l'ia me donne déjà du fil à retordre. Donc pour ceux qui recherche un bon jeu d'échecs solo en VR, je vous le recommande vivement, bien mieux que Chess ultra qui est horrible en VR.

+ Super intuitive Steuerung + Gute Otionen (Schwierigkeitsgrad) + Gegner reagiert wenn man ihn mit Figuren bewirft + Tolle Grafik des Gegners und auch der Umgebung... - ...die leider nicht interaktiv ist +/- Multiplayer ist geplant, aber nicht verfügbar Fazit: Macht echt Spaß, super intuitiv, tolle Grafik. Schach sollte man natürlich mögen, dann klare Empfehlung.

This is an extremely difficult chess game. There are only three levels of difficulty with the lowest being expert. I never won a single game the entire time I had this game in my Steam library. There is also only one room that you play chess in. The game is also still in early access after SIX years because the developer has long abandoned it. If you are looking for a VR chess game, I recommend Immersion Chess VR that is free on Steam, which has several levels of difficulty and is much better than Magician's Gambit.

Exelent start, the game has great potential, its realy fun to play chess in this fantasy setting. Only thing i mis is a center view button for my headset(it drifts) and an undo button. Hope there will be enviroments and caractars to choos from in the future that would be awesome.

I highly recoment this product. I would prefer a different location/setting (hope they add more) but this is the closest I have been able to get to over the board experience. I was able to get that with Chess Ultra, but Magician's Gambit has done a much better job fine tooning the camera movement using my Gamepad. And, of course the special effects are top notch. I am currently using the Oculus Rift on a RTX 1080 The engine strength at its lowest level is fiarly strong for those who are only beginner/social players or below 1300 elo. I haven't tested the engine strength but I have not been able to win a game yet, so I hope they can add something for lower rated players. Otherwise, playing and losing everytime with Magician's Gambit is still a lot of fun whereas I would have stopped playing in other programs. I just hope they continue adding features to this masterpiece. Viewing the move list, saving the game, etc.
