[h1]Prologue[/h1]
A city like any other, which can be anywhere in the world with its days passing by normally. Or it should happen. But this is not the case, because every night the members of an evil organization, called just Fakker, attack and turn the town into their playground with their black-clad henchmen walking around and kidnapping women to do many indecent things. In this same dangerous city lives the young student Rin Himesato, who lived normally until the day she spent too much time in the school library.
Returning home already under the cloak of night, Rin is attacked by a group of Fakkers, but before being taken, our brave protagonist is saved by a magical girl and a talking cat, who claims to detect that Rin has high levels of magical energy. For this reason, the cat somehow gets in touch with the student the next night, saying he needs her help, making Rin go out at night and head to town, where she sees the first magical girl being captured and taken away by the Fakkers. But before Rin can be captured as well, the cat makes an offer to transform her into a magic girl as well, which she accepts, becoming the magic girl Lyristia.
[h1] Game mechanics[/h1]
Now with her new identity and the help of the talking cat, Rin must try to find the first magical girl to save her just like she did for her the first night they met. But this won't be easy because the young woman still doesn't have any information or knowledge about her new techniques. To do this, the player will need to learn how to use the two energies, the EP that starts fully loaded and gets consumed by physical attacks, and the MP that loads with each hit made during the fights.
Fights that are many, because the Fakkers will use everything, whether honest or not, to try and capture her and steal her innocence doing all kinds of "pure" things and sometimes even a little rough with her, and also steal the magic energy of the protagonist. There is the possibility of an special ending if Rin does many "pure" things, just as it is possible to end the game with the protagonist finishing the story without losing her purity once, everything will depend on the actions of Rin and the player.
[h1] Art and sound[/h1]
The art is produced by the ShiBoo! studio, the style is quite simple without great details, yet well done especially in the characters. Such as the magical girl protagonist of our story, with her long hair, thick and flashy eyebrows. This also applies to some of the spicier scenes, accessible from Rin's bedroom computer. Along with the art we have the soundtrack, with some more relaxing songs and others more sinister according to the moment, giving the proper atmosphere to each situation.
[h1] Conclusion[/h1]
Magical Valkyrie Lyristia may not be one of the flashiest or longest games ever brought to English by Kagura games, but it's an interesting title if you want a classic RPG with a modern-day story, with magical girls fighting villains. Even at the end of the story, our brave protagonist defeats only part of the organization, leaving room for sequels. In fact the studio has already another title in the same universe in production. Who knows what else we will see in the story of the magical girl Lyristia, in the next games and if again Kagura Games will bring them to English. While that day is still to come, this first episode remains an interesting recommendation.
