as a kid, i spent a good chunk of time watching student art films on youtube. they had a level of quality and dedication i was completely unused to in indie animation, and a gritty, strange charm that captivated me! maggie's apartment, from at-the-time(?) calarts student anatola howard, bleeds the same energy as those sorts of films. it's offbeat, witty, weird, and utterly charming. it's a little rough around the edges. progression is halted behind lengthy dialogue trees, where it is hard to discern flavor text from critical dialogue. some puzzles are obtuse. the audio mixing is a little spotty. but this game didn't draw me in for its gameplay; the point-and-click gameplay is more of a means to an end, if anything. the appeal here is for the game's art, and the art is wonderful! the animation is flowy, weighty, and is a joy to just sit down and watch! characters don't just "go" from one place to another; they stumble, fumble their way through windows, are very physically present in the world. the writing is fun to read and listen to, and there's so much charm on display! the game cares deeply about its mood over all: the diegetic radio music and sounds of the city, the soft and highly intentional color space, the ui and aesthetic of the world wants the player to sit and immerse themselves completely. the game is also absolutely gorgeous. pretty much every screen in this game could be sold as an art print! this is a game that takes pride in its art. it's not the most polished point-and-click game i've played, but there is a very clear artistic vision here, and it executes.
I knew it by discovering the ost by chance, and then I got interested and .... wow, this game is just incredible, the atmosphere is just phenomenally good, the musics are just incredible, the story is super original (I think) and really well directed towards a nice message, the characters are the most endearing I've ever seen (almost as much as undertale that's to say lmaoo) the gameplay is a bit far-fetched sometimes but never too absurd, no frankly it's really a huge crush and I advise everyone to play it :)
I really love the characters and overall bizarre atmosphere of the little world in this game, a little difficult though thats just cause im not that great at these types of games in general, highly recommend!!
This is one of the most unique stories I've ever seen in a video game and also one of the most original takes on the adventure genre I've ever played. Not to mention it's got gorgeous art that looks like no other game out there! I played it back when it was new and just revisited it again and it remains a thoroughly charming and singular experience. I wish more people knew about it.
i love it, such a charming game, tragic and funny and such lovable characters (not him tho)
A short point-and-click mystery game that is obviously inspired by old school games and cartoons. The artstyle and voice acting are delightful and quirky, the story is simple but not bad. There's a bit of moon logic with some of the puzzles but the NPCs are usually pretty helpful. It's good if you want a quirky indie game, though keep in mind it can be beaten in about 2-4 hours, depending on how fast you get some of the puzzles and if you listen to all the dialogue. Also I like Naked Snake Maggie at the end.
<3333, finally got this game and just starting but the vibes r immaculate edit: WHOOOOOOOOOA! THIS GAME IS GOOD, BEAUTY BELOVED, MAGIIIIE
what a fantastic experience! I've been eyeing this game for awhile now because of its beautiful and unique style. and after finishing it id say its worth every penny! the characters have great personality and the story is incredibly captivating. the puzzles were a delight to figure out as well! not frustrating but definitely not easy!
What a delightfully strange game... its a lot more touching and poignant than you'd think it'd be. It's got a very original story and you don't have to click every square inch of the screen.
Beautiful art style, amazing music, and all around a fun puzzle game. Should've left a review years ago when I first played it. Replaying it for about the 3rd or 4th time now, it still hasn't lost its charm. Challenging just enough to make you work for it, but not enough that it's tedious. Highly recommend,
