Mageanoid

Kinda fun for just being a small little shooter game. The art was nice, and helped spark some ideas for me. I hope you update this game soon, maybe adding death animations or something. The music is very nice, but I wish there was more that played every now and then. Anyways, 7/10 game. I would recommend if you enjoy mindlessly shooting skeletons lol.

"Mageanoid" is an extremely lazy 2D top down twin stick wave survival shooter with locked controls and resolution and absolutely zero redeeming features. What do you do in the game? All you do is move around and shoot waves of samey enemies... everything here seems to be a lazy ripoff including the main character, a ripoff of the wizard from Final Fantasy. This is why Valve needs quality control for Steam Direct. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off. We all know that, it's obvious... professional developers wouldn't be this incompetent in the first place. But what's insulting about this is the developer expects that, because, as he points out quite clearly, he's incompetent and thus this reject was of "small scope", it should apparently get positive reviews?? What a bizarre point of view. The developers incompetence was the reason this was a complete and utter failure. It's not a viable excuse. It's the reason it failed. And the developer wants a positive review just because he doesn't know what he's doing, but since Elden Ring is on the same platform as his game, his game is just as good? Is this some kind of joke? Obviously the developer here is The Main Character and never gave any consideration to what's good for gamers. The developer finishes off with a clear insult... that this reviewer doesn't enjoy video games. Despite having thousands of hours in excellent AAA games and 100% completion in many of them. Why would the developer tell such a blatant, insulting, and easily disproven lie? Oh yes... because if he makes up a fiction about this reviewer not enjoying video games, he doesn't have to cope with the enormity of his utter failure as a developer, or cope with the fact he's stolen copyrighted character designs from Final Fantasy, which puts the developer in a state of significant legal risk. Copyright infringement in some places in the world can be considered a breach of criminal law. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this failure to anyone.

Simple game without much content. Reminds me a bit of arcade games. It's fun, but nothing you can play for hours on end.

Игра Mageanoid - это ностальгическое возвращение к классическому арканоиду, но с добавлением магии и элементов RPG. Разбивать кирпичи волшебными заклинаниями оказалось на удивление увлекательным! Разнообразие заклинаний, которые можно улучшать, придает глубину геймплею и мотивирует проходить уровни снова и снова, чтобы собрать ресурсы. Визуальный стиль игры простой, но приятный, а музыкальное сопровождение создает атмосферу волшебного приключения. Боссы интересные и требуют тактического подхода, а не простого отбивания шарика. Однако, игра может быстро наскучить, если не нравится жанр в целом. Сюжет, конечно, есть, но он скорее для галочки. В целом, Mageanoid - отличный вариант для тех, кто ищет расслабляющий и увлекательный тайм-киллер с ноткой магии. Рекомендую, если вы любите классический арканоид, но хотите чего-то новенького.
