Played with my girlfriend, we ended up arguing for an hour about a single puzzle but then high-fived when we solved it. That’s exactly what I want in a co-op escape room. Atmosphere is creepy but not horror, which is perfect.
Poorly designed puzzles in a poorly designed game
Cool idea and enjoyable rooms, just be ready to get stuck sometimes. When momentum slows, it can be unclear whether you missed something or you’re thinking the wrong way, but overall it’s a neat virtual escape-room experience.
It was faster to guess puzzle solutions than solve them. Not very well designed.
Good escape room sim. Not as polished as Escape Simulator, but it has its own vibe. More atmospheric, more tension. Worth checking out if you like the genre.
An unfortunately bad exocution of a good idea. Mad Experiments: Escape Room is a game that tasks you with searching a small space for clues on how to reach an exit condition of some kind. As is true with most escape room style games, this game lives and dies based on the clues and puzzles. If the clues are too obscure or the puzzles too difficult, the game is frustrating and feels obtuse. If the puzzles are too easy and the clues too straight forward, the game doesn't offer enough substance to really get your cognitive juices flowing. Unfortunately, after playing through the first room in the game, I find that this game is lacking in essentially every category. The first puzzle that I found simply asked me to count light fixtures, not difficult, but not exactly interesting either. Usually, these games would have counting items be just the first step in solving a puzzle. Next, I found a puzzle that wanted me to solve a door code using two separate clues, but neither was very straight forward in giving me the information needed to solve the puzzle. Luckily, one of the clues had such an obviously different section of text, I figured it could only be the answer, and it was. Then, I was met with a puzzle that wanted me to decode a gramaphone message, but it wanted me to decode it in the opposite direction I was expecting, so I needed a guide to eventually figure it out. The final three puzzles vascilated between being too easy and too tediuos to solve, and that was the entire first room. After dealing with a room full of items that had nothing to do with the puzzles, and puzzles that were either too easy or too tedious, I ran out of patience for the game. I love escape room style games, but this game has nothing in it that I enjoyed.
Badly implemented. Clunky controls and lots of bugs.
