Basic Info
Genre: Platformer Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gameplay
Rating:8/10 Contrary to what the store page says, a controller is NOT required to play this game, as it is playable with just the keyboard. You may want to use a controller though, as it will most likely allow for more precise and accurate movement. You play as a trainee ninja from the Mad Dojo and your task is to get from your dojo to the finish line to prove to your sensei you have what it takes to become a real ninja. While this task may seem simple, your journey is filled with obstacles, such as spikes, bamboo sticks and acid. Luckily you have your throwing stars which can cut down bamboo and your agility which allows you to double jump and hang onto walls. Unfortunately, since you are in training, everything kills you with one touch. And your sensei is impatient, so you have to complete the levels as fast as possible, not only to challenge yourself, but also all of the other potential ninja trainees (on the leader boards), trying to become real ninjas. The levels get progressively harder by introducing new obstacles, more obstacles and harder placement of the obstacles. There is a total of 30 levels in the game, even though I have yet to pass level 10.
Narrative
Rating:0/10 The game has no narrative other than what is found on the store page. I would have personally liked if there were some narrative to explain the reason why we are training to be a ninja and try to get past these obstacles.
Visual Presentation
Rating:8/10 The game uses an 16-bit pixel cartoon art-style. It runs on the Unity game engine and will run smoothly on most machines.
Audio Presentation
Rating:8/10 The soundtrack for this game is varied and has an eastern-inspired theme, which fits very well with the ninja theme. The sound effects are top quality and fits the genre, style and theme very well.
Final Score
Rating:6/10 This game is challenging, difficult even. It will challenge you to try just one more time. Just one more death before you exit. At times you will be frustrated, mostly because you know you have the skills to finish the level but just keep getting the timing wrong. It is a great game to boot up and play for 5 to 10 minutes, but you can also easily spend hours trying to complete some levels. [PS : THIS REVIEW WAS AT THE MOMENT THE GAME HAD 15 LEVELS , AND IT MIGHT CHANGE ACCORDING TO MY GAMEPLAY ] This game gave me quite a challenge , and for an early access , i can say it is quite decent !! i had a hard time beating some lvls from 9 to 15 but after quite some tries ( A LOT ) and i can say that my controller is wet lol Pros : Challenging Good Retro graphics still on early access ( and i meant by that , more levels will be available soon as this was just 1st stage ) Cons : Edge jump does count as a jump Acid Balls have some slight radius than it should have , so it can kill u if u just get near Not for Casual players Loved this game : 8/10 :D
This game was reviewed using a code sent by the developer/publisher but this will NOT affect my opinion/review on this game

Pros:

– Nice 2D retro graphics.
– Unlimited levels thanks to their “Procedurally Generated levels mode”.
– A nice challenging game.
– Steam achievements.
– Steam cards.
– Fair price for what you get.
– Love the traps make the game more challenging.
– Fun platformer.
– Toasters can play this game.
OS: Windows 7 Processor: Intel i3 / AMD FX Memory: 1 GB RAM Graphics: VGA GPU Storage: 500 MB available space

Please don’t take these cons so seriously as the Devs may change some of my cons in the future after Early Access
Cons:

– On the main menu change the play symbol as no idea what its meant to be.
– Be nice if there was a story or some background information on why he does this.
– Change outfits for your character.
– Maybe a ghost to show you how to do some levels.
– Global leader board.
– A tutorial level would be nice.
– Custom music or add more track to the game as the default one gets a little boring.

Conclusion:
Overall this game is fun, with the community support it be nice if the community would be able to make their own levels and let user play like adding a workshop, there are things that do need changing to make it more fun like story etc. but this is good right now for early access and is worth it if you like challenging platformers. It gets a Thumbs up from me.
Mad Dojo is a platformer in which you play a ninja who can run, jump, and throw shuriken while dodging obstacles in his way. I warn players that this game is difficult, especially if not very good with platformers like I am. I found myself beyond frustrated with this game and only recommend it to someone who wants to challenge themselves. I do, however, see the promise in this game and anyone looking for a fast-paced adventure should enjoy it. It has no story whatsoever, you jump right into the gameplay and that’s about it. While I wouldn’t mind a little bit of story I can see how it doesn’t really need one. This title is currently in early access and being updated regularly, however, what is available now is a decent start. The game in its current state is short and doesn’t have enough variety at the moment for its price tag. This game requires a controller to play and has very simple controls. You can move back and forth, jump as well as double jump and throw shuriken. That’s all you need to do in order to play this game. Most of the gameplay revolves around timing your moves correctly to dodge obstacles and not fall to your death. Levels have a timer, though you’re not racing against the clock unless you want so that may entice players into speedrunning through games. When you die in a level, a ghost will appear at the spot of death helping players figure out where they went wrong and how to fix it. If you enjoy 2D graphics, then Mad Dojo has you covered. Nothing amazing is happening here graphics-wise and this game will probably play on any low-end computer decently. The animations are smooth and the ninja himself is cute though some customization would be fun. The colors are bright, the scenes fit their locations and everything is easy on the eyes. Audio-wise, there is no voice acting and the music is pretty basic and forgettable but it works though there are platformers that do a better job in this department. The game does have decent sound effects but for the most part this game doesn’t really do anything outstanding with its audio or visuals. Pros

”Procedurally generated” feature offers unlimited levels to try, creates high replay value.
Graphics are simple and nice.
Can be used for speed runs.
Steam trading cards and achievements.
Cons

Game is difficult and certainly not for novices.
Could use more variety of obstacles and challenges in the main levels.
No story or anything really unique about the game. The game is dynamic, difficult, pleasant graphics. The only one minus is a little content, I'll be looking forward for the updates. One more thing, would be great to see campaign, tournament or competition with other ninjas in the game.
I hate this game. It is so annoying. But it also must be beaten. It is (at least for me), a very difficult game. A side-scrolling platform puzzle solving game, where you play a Ninja trying to survive ever more challenging and difficult obstacle courses - courses that are filled with spikes, acid and sharp bamboo spears, (and later falling stallegmites, shuriken cannons, proximity mines and bottomless pits), armed only with physics defying jumps and overtly large shuriken (which in turn can hurt you when they stick into walls becoming a new hazard). Thankfully this game has controller support, because I dread trying to play it without. Though I have found that my fingers are aching and my knuckles white with the very simple controls, I'm gripping the controller that tight. Do I reccommend this game? Yes and No. Yes if you like games that drive you insane til you complete them. No if you have any vestige of sanity left. Of course, people reading this are gamers, so there's no sanity to begin with. Buy this game. Beat this game. Give it the finger!! UPDATE: I beat this game. I gave it the finger. F**K YOU Game! :)
Note. Claims you need a controller but you can play on keyboard. The game is get to point A to point b by avoiding spikes, toxic, and toxic waste balls. Try to get to the end by speed.

Well everything you need to enjoy the game. The only part is that the game is quite short but hopefully several levels are quite challenging, especially in the first world.
- Review below ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Story You are a wannabe ninja and you are trained by your sensei with a very tough training including various obstacles and deadly traps. Each day you will train harder and harder to be the ninja you always wanted to be. Graphics The game offers great pixel art graphics with several nice effects : a trail following your ninja, some nice sunrays and some nice backgrounds. Sounds, Music Sounds are nice and you will hear a distinct music in each world. And of course the music is quite nice. Gameplay It's mostly reach the end of the level without dying. Your current time is shown at the top of the screen so the aim is to get to the exit as fast as possible if you want to get in the top of the leaderboards. The game contains 2 worlds with each 15 levels. Each world has their distinct hazards and traps. The only annoying thing is that the first world has mostly deadly traps which is less the case of the second world. So your energy bar (health bar) will only help you during the second world. Hopefully you are well prepared : you can double jump, wall slide and even use kunai/shuriken to help you to reach the exit. The game will also show you your last deaths on the level. Even if you beat the game you can still enjoy it and play some randomly generated levels which can be much harder than the campaign. Achievements Most of them are easy to obtain. Only one or two levels may be tedious to finish as well as beating a procedural level.
