It's mad to not recommend after 9.2 hours, but sunk cost kept me going, hoping there'd be a pay off to the grind - I got the most went-for ending and man was it underwhelming. If there was any amount of meaningful payoff I'd maybe be recommending it for what it is, a simple cutesy grindy time-waster that scratches an itch, despite it's terrible upgrade pacing and the near useless drone (as pointed out in other negative reviews). But it really is just a time-waster, and there's defo better ones than this. If you only play games that require 0 effort while you listen to YouTube, this is one of them I guess, but you've probably got better ones already.
Fun game! I ended up 100%ing it in some hours (it was left idle for a while)
second best game ever
Przypomina mi trochę Game About Digging a Hole, ale nie kopiesz dziury tylko las xD Co ciekawe gra posiada kilka zakończeń LOL
Chop Tree Throw Tree Get Money Upgrade Repeat That is what this game is at it core. There are upgrades but you will realize very quickly that 3 of them is needed to basically progress and the other 3 are QOL. The gameplay loop is pretty repetitive and basic. The drone is very useless IMO. The game is lacking in areas. A big complaint I have is a lack of a map. I had to look up one online and even still I got lost at times looking for things. This is an alright game, unique but nothing special 6/10
is very fun
So I played it quite some time and wanted to finish it but in the end I gave up. The concept is simple, chop wood, get upgrades, chop faster, harder (scooter!!! that song is 12 year olds btw). The thing holding me back from finishing honestly from the start is the missing of a minimap. you can basically only see 5m around you and everything looks the same. The "map" provided at the gnome is not realy helpfull and after I turned 2-3 times I already forgot where I was/where I was supposed to go. A map you would gradually open up would make this a pleasant experience. Maybe even have the option to make notes to it. Until this will get added I would just recommend playing any other of the games of this genre.
Holy hell, do not buy this. Don't even try this. This is a game where you are lost in a forest... so you cut the forest down, so you're lost in a big map where everything looks the same. I thought I could cut down a tree to the stump, and use that as a guiding post. But when you upgrade your chopping power, trees don't become stumps anymore, they just get shredded completely. You have to cut down trees, buy upgrades, cut down more trees. I thought that sounded great. I'm the kind of person who wins Age of Empires maps by cutting trees to get into the enemies base. If I attack the wall, they'll be alerted, but nobody expects you to cut down the entire black forest! But this.... Oh my god, this. So you have two options to win. You can help the fairies or you can help the gnomes. One option leads you to having to cut down literally every single tree. Hey, good luck finding that one tree you didn't cut down hours ago, in a game that has no map. You can look up a map, and vaguely try to work out where things are, but given that literally everything looks the same, it's not going to work out very well, is it? Option two is to find three machines in the forest, while the lights are out and drones are trying to find you. If they do you get teleported to a cage with a vague escape route. (Find a key, open the door, no clues for this, unstick button doesn't work.) So you're left with having to get completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lost in a massive forest one way or the other. And even if you do cut down every tree, everywhere looks the same. The stamina metre and the run speed are slow, even if fully upgraded, they're still slow. You run out of stamina very quickly and even when you are sprinting, you're not very fast. Finally, the biggest issue. If you want all the achievements for this game, you're going to have to complete it twice. Not once... not once to near the end and make a separate save. Twice, full run, start to finish, twice. There are guides on steam that have maps, but it's still a nightmare finding your way round. After running around in circles for 10 hours, I completed what should've been a 1-2 hour game twice.. I am so glad I had tv to watch at the same time, because if not, I wouldn't gone thoroughly round the twist. Developers.... if you're going to make a game like this. Add a compass, or a radar, or hell, best option, a map. Or, if you don't want to add any of those. Give people some kind of flight mode, or super speed. Make stamina infinite when fully upgraded... or just don't bother with a stamina bar, nobody ever had fun running out of stamina. But most of all. Think. When making a game... is this fun? Is being lost fun? Is repeating the same action over and over again fun? Is cutting down every single tree, fun? This was a nightmare. I'm so glad it's over.... I see trees every time I blink now. Thanks for reading, or skipping to the end. Have a lovely day. Unless you're the developer, you're only allowed a nice day once you add a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map.
Quite a bit frustrating without proper planning, I found it difficult to get one of the two endings without having memorized where the objects I needed were. Overall an enjoyable gameplay loop, but a lack of map/marker is an easily frustrating feature and makes the game a little harder to enjoy fully.
imple yet very addictive
