Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/G0jasGazb-M Ludicrous Speed originally released in 2018 at $6.99 USD, but has now gone free to play. It's a very enjoyable endless runner, especially if you use the arm-swing locomotion method. You'll basically feel like a real-life Sonic the Hedgehog as you run, jump, move left & right, duck, & wall climb as you avoid obstacles and collect coins at breakneck speeds. The game does have in-game music, but I recommend you bring your own music. You can play from any streaming service or locally on your PC and the game will recognize the background music and react visually to your music. The game is running on the Unreal Engine, on my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 60 frames per second. I'm not sure if that's a bug, but I didn't get my normal 90 fps and there's no reason this game shouldn't be getting 90 fps. You can also play this game seated and use the joystick movement to move left & right. There's even a snap turn option for some reason (everything happens in front of you so there's really no need for it). However, the game just isn't as fun using this method. Plus the controls aren't as responsive as they should be in this mode. I had a lot of fun playing this game. In fact, it's so good that I'm putting it in my top 100 list of free Steam VR games and you can check out that list in the link below. I definitely think it's worth the download. Thank you dev for making this free to play now! Rate 7.5/10.
Please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. It seems unfair that the only review is negative, the game definitely has a niche, it may not be me but I can't say for now
What to say about Ludicrous Speed.. Its damn AMAZING. Gamers want consistency, fluidity, functional controls, regular updates, and most of all, a challenge which grows with their skill. Ludicrous Speed seems to have all of these attributes present. I love that the player environments react to whatever music I want to play. Keep in mind that this game is still in its early stages, yet is still at the top of its performance in this genre. Definitely keep your eyes on this one. I can see some sweet advancements in the near future. Regardless of which, Ludicrous Speed will not fail in providing hours of challenging entertainment. -OG
This game is perfect for groups of friends and family, Creating your own competitions and having lots of fun along the way. Overall great game with hours of fun for all ages.
Ludicrous Speed is a Free VR game that is an Endless runner game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Hard to play. Has a tutorial. At one time, it was a paid product, now it is free to play. Warning; might cause motion sickness. Try this game, if you have iron stomach.
its free give it a try you have nothing to lose, how ever the controllers are really broken and so are the moon physics. you have 0 control in the air, you speed/ momentum never seems to respond how you want it i find tilting the controls do nothing half the time and the other have you speed up uncontrollably and any change in the speed seems to just instantly stop you. if im missing something please let me know because i love the look of the game and i love the music integration, but without being able to control my character i cant really play it edit im re installing it to give it a second chance buut i have no clue what you mean by arm swing but what about the moon physics and weird momentum problems? i did mess with the settings but when you just make random complete stops and have trouble getting momentum again even the analog stick movment was really bad i cansee about recording a video to show you what i mean
not worth the money
Using the Steam Index Controllers. For an infinite runner, I don't get why you can stop and go in reverse. This got in the way if you use the hand position controlling, as my speed ends up feeling random based on how the game interprets my hand positioning. Left - right controls feel good using the "motorcycle handle" motions. Holding the triggers to move seemed unnecessary. Jumping was really tricky for a dodging/parkour game. Having to throw my arms down, then up, while releasing the triggers was more requirements than I'd like. My jumping ending up erratic putting the motions together. Just send me flying forward and let me react to obstacles. I liked the idea of the wall-running and wall-jumping. If the other motion controls could be tightened up, I think wall actions would work better and make the run feel more exciting. Earlier part of the game could use more contrast. Coins and the blades were both yellow, so it's just a lot of bright yellow objects coming at you. The game is very bright and colorful, so more of a color palette at any one time. Personally I'd tone down the floor coloring so the rest of the environment stood out more. Overall, looks promising with some heavy tweaks to the controls. Felt like there were 3 ways to move forward and it got confusing which was working better. And, volume controls please.
