The music is a hit-or-miss; sometimes it's nice and relaxing, sometimes it's the same nerve-grating 20 seconds in an infinite loop until you finish the level. The achievement is bait - you cannot get it unless using SAM or similar programs. (And not the only game the dev(s) did it for.) This game's low-poly environments can be beautiful but also barren. Look at the store page's screenshots and that's basically the entirety of the game for you. To say this game raised awareness for endangered species would give them too much credit, because there's no exposition whatsoever. Sure you can fill in the blanks with your own imagination, but if the store page had not told you so, would you even be aware? (And do unicorns count as endangered species?) Polyventure is fascinating in its own right but it doesn't feel worth the asking price for the playtime you get out of it, ESPECIALLY since you can't even get the single achievement for investing your time. P.S.: If you do end up playing this, hold SHIFT to run. Not only will you get to your goal faster, but there is also one section where you have to run to make certain jumps or you're stuck.
成就故意坑人,只能用工具解锁,这个游戏教会了我工具的使用方法。游戏中音乐还可以吧,但是内容就完全不知道干什么,可玩性几乎没有,还不如步行模拟器去看风景来的好
Polyventure, while having great music and some immersive environments is a very experimental, EXTREMELY minimalistic game. While I am a fan of experimental, abstract, and minimalistic walking sims this game simply doesn't have enough depth to it beyond enjoying a few chill songs while wandering around static, somewhat ethereal environments. Polyventure seems to be more or less just about wandering around strange locales while a chill "Pure Moods" ish sounding song plays in the background. While I was initially very captivated with the game and its opening Enigma - Sadeness sounding tune, it quickly became apparent that the game involved very little (to no) player interaction, instead consisting of the player meandering aimlessly about while a snippet of a song plays, looking at a few things (are all of the environments shown in the trailer?) before being warped out of that environment and onto the next "hub" area which has 4 pillars of colorful light (seen in the trailer) that the player can walk into. These are all unique but once inside of them there is no purpose to the player to complete (which is fine...) but save for one area involving some optional platforming along clouds there doesn't seem to be any player interaction required at all in Polyventure. Although I still enjoyed the music and can admire Polyventure as a piece of interactive "art" or as an interesting way to market the musical tracks, I can't recommend it at its baseline asking price of 4.99. Had the songs also been packaged into a soundtrack on Steam, then it would be a kind of cool experimental EP to pick up, however marketed in its store description as "a game based on beautiful atmospheres and lucid dreaming, to concern about endangered species and the enviroment" is injecting far more purpose into the title than is evident to any of the player during their sparse interactions with the level design.
"Haha, look at me, im a funny Dev that adds 1 Achievement that you can only cheat"
Ummm... So I rate this a 3/10. The music is good. That's about it. The "game" takes about 11 minutes to complete, and all you do is walk through 3-4 environments that look okay-ish. It is supposed to communicate some kind of message, but completely fails to tell anything. Not very comelling. I left feeling like 15 minutes of my life was, kinda wasted? Good effort. But I think it was only worth my $0.20 from a bundle. But definitely certainly not worth $5. Also its not clear how to get the one achievement. It says something about cheating... huh??
It took me less time to finish the game than to download it. If you're stuck, run to what sticks out. To run press shift, to jump press space. Yeah it's not convenient. Never found how to unlock the achievement, if you know, hit me up.
