About
LSD Dream Emulator: Liminal Spaces (Outside The Backrooms) is a surrealist indie game with a PSX feel based on lucid dreaming and liminal spaces. The game mainly consists in exploring the dreamy surroundings of these psychedelic and minimalistic worlds.
Heavily inspired by LSD Dream Emulator, this game is a surrealist first-person walking simulator game about dreams, featuring
* trippy, psychedelic visuals
* intense music
* and last but not least, an overarching feeling of NEVER knowing what to expect.
Immerse yourself in a dreamy and psychedelic world through PSX enviroments and liminal spaces.
It explores the idea of a mind losing its grasp with reality, as reality turns into a dream. Often it resembles an acid trip, or an interactive fever dream.
A Retro game influenced by the BACKROOMS Aesthetic with a PLAYSTATION 1 feel.
Combining a Walking Simulator with exploration, and trippy music, be prepared to confront your deepest thoughts in this mental challenge between dreams and reality where nothing is what it seems.
A TOTAL experience.

just plain rubbish, extremely short and music is far too loud
❌👇 Se riuscite a trovare arte in quest'opera, allora anche il mio pneumatico a terra, bucato, è un modigliani ❌🚩The developer would present us Liminal Spaces as a psychedelic and surreal experience ⛔❌Here, yes, this game without content from the maximum duration of 13 minutes, is just surreal, starting with the cost of 4 euros, really thrown in the toilet. Do not forget to pull the bucket, to erase permanently the traces of these 4 assets pulled in cross. ❌👇 If you can find art in this work, then my flat tire, punctured, is a modigliani
Just finished the game, couldnt find achievement. Its a chill lsd dream emulator type game, not really seeing any backrooms vibes more like magical forest but yeah its pretty cool game.
This is a short game but I would say come for the liminal spaces and stay for the music. It matched the level perfectly I went from wanting to go back to my rave days to wanting to lay out in the garden in the sun. You could probably replay this game but do not expect 5* gaming for the low price. But I do hope this developer continues to make games.
I wish there was a way to leave a neutral review, but since I have played free games with more content, I'll have to leave a negative one. Despite the title, this game has nothing to do with the Backrooms, and if you're expecting sprawling explorable spaces, this isn't it. The levels look massive but have arbitrary invisible walls, which leaves you with little more than an oval or circle to walk around in. The visuals are pretty for most of the levels (if you like low-poly fantasy forests), and the lofi soundtrack is mostly relaxing. If you don't mind an extremely short, lofi walking simulator that is actually LSD Dream Emulator rather than the Backrooms, then by all means play it if you like the screenshots, but be aware that the experience is pretty much ONLY what is shown in the screenshots. Even then, I would only recommend it at a steep discount.
If I could put a thumbs aside, I would do it. Normally in this case, I would give a thumbs up, especially for a solo developer and for this cheap price. I also liked the leaves flying around, I liked how the grass moved in the wind and it had good music and many tracks. But I can't and here is why: It starts in a town and I wanted to explore the town. Run between the houses, read all the signs like "HOTEL" and whatever I find. But there were so many invisible walls which ruined all the exploration fun. When I found the stairs I could jump on a roof, so I said: Hey, let me jump from roof to roof and explore the city from above. Not possible. There is no other building in reach, so this dream ended real fast. The next levels I found these animals and as soon you approach, the level ends here. The music did not do one single loop. Also no exploration fun here either. Then I came to the level with all these doors standing around. Stupid me, I didn't run straight but took a right turn at the start. And I somehow found a forgotten invisible wall and came to the rim of your skybox. I wanted to get back inside to find the exit, but invisible walls everywhere. So I said: Ok ESC and restart the level. ESC gave me some kind of mouse cursor but no menu or anything. So I had to ALT-F4 and restart the game. This time go only straight, don't explore at all. Wait when you see something unusual, so I can at least finish listening to the track. Then there came some more levels or not, I don't remember, and finally I came to this big room with a door and the "fun" was over. I could not get out of the credits, so ALT-F4 again. I don't refund. There is a lot of work in your game, it was just not fun for me. Just some tips: Mark the spot where you exit the level, so people can finish listening to the music. Let people explore your levels. Put something interesting here and there, anything, a beach ball, a rubber duck or something I can wonder and use my imagination why something like that could be here. The city level was best in that way, because of the people. Make your levels rememberable.
More like a PoC than a game
