I honestly enjoyed the plot of Useless Goddess more than Divinity Stage. This time the story is about the “rehabilitation” of Akane, a naughty goddess. Since she gives no f*cks about others and that will eventually affect her permanently in a bad way, Inori (another goddess) comes around to help her. The MC this time is a guy called Sho, and he lives in the same apartment building that his best friend, Maika, lives. Akane also happens to be the protector goddess of the apartment building, meaning that her fate is intertwined with Maika and Sho. Like Divinity Stage, this title is also kinetic and there’s only one choice you’ll make in order to choose which girl you’ll pursue. But after playing all the routes, I felt that only Akane’s route was the “real” one and the only that made more sense. The story is about her, after all. Inori’s route was very short and it wasn’t so interesting. Maika’s route was longer and it was okay. And that’s it. Overall, it’s a decent visual novel with great looks and worth getting on a sale if you want to read something not too complex. 6/10.
I found Lovekami Useless Goddess to be really boring. Like the last Lovekami VN the story is not that great. Unlike the last game however none of the characters are really that fun. The ending feels lackluster and the character development is just horribly executed. Personally I like to go through every VN I play and collect all the cgs, this however is the only time I was tempted to just drop a VN. As you can see from the total time I played it I have completed it, but I had to force myself to do it. Other than that I would also like to comment the fact that this is not the complete game. In Japan it is actually an 18+ title. It was first released here without that content and later released in Japan with all its content. While I don't think adding the 18+ scenes would make this much better, if at all, I do think it is pretty scummy to not release the full game. They could have just released the 18+ stuff as a patch. In conclution this is a boring incomplete VN that is poorly written.
Full review on Sinical Network with accompanying screenshots and videos
https://www.sinicalanimenetwork.com/post/2019/04/11/lovekami-useless-goddess-review This is the third visual novel from PULLTOP and MoeNovel. LoveKami -Useless Goddess- is a cute, funny, and heartwarming romantic comedy presented as a fairy tale that includes fanservice which is set in a modern Japanese time. The story revolves around an Aragami who descended into Japanese society unintentially causing various degrees of trouble for humans. The main male protagonist Sho Narumi lives at Tsubaki Apartments in Kannagi town with his childhood friend and landlady Maika Kunugi, an Aragami Akane Tsubaki, as well as a local earth goddess and shrine maiden Inori Kamiki. One night, while on his way home from a trip to a convenience store, Sho came across Akane appearing weak from starvation. Feeling sorry for her, Sho brought food for Akane to eat and allowed her to stay at the apartment. He was shortly approached by Inori the shrine maiden, who explained that she was sent by her boss to be the guardian of Akane and oversee Akane Tsubaki's rehabilitation to remain as the household goddess of Tsubaki Apartments which has the ability to prevent Tsubaki Apartment's foundations and structures from rapid deterioration and eventual collapse. Having played through and completed all routes in PULLTOP and MoeNovel's two visual novel releases on Steam If My Heart Had Wings and Lovekami -Divinity Stage-, this visual novel is comparable to Lovekami -Divinity Stage- in terms of animated sprites, plenty of attractive artwork in the game, free included wallpapers, and in the game cover, Steam achievements, profile backgrounds, badges, and emoticons which make it a good choice to showcase on your profile. The visual novel also has a nice opening movie and theme song to match the comedic and upbeat themes in the featured throughout the story. There are a few negatives though. This visual novel is much shorter than LoveKami -Divinity Stage-, with less text and dialogue to bring out each character in detail and only one choice to make in the entire game which automatically leads to one of three possible routes and endings (Less than 10 hours altogether to complete all 3 routes and endings). The soundtrack DLC for this visual novel has 1 soundtrack with vocals and 9 soundtracks which might reduce the appeal of the DLC and visual novel as it has considerably fewer songs with vocals compared to its earlier title LoveKami -Divinity Stage-. As a short game with fan service, it might also disappoint readers who are looking for a more engaging romantic comedy featuring goddesses with supernatural powers. Overall, LoveKami -Useless Goddess- is a short romantic comedy with funny light-hearted moments, CGs with fanservice, and Steam achievements that can be unlocked and showcased on profile easily. At the same time, this visual novel is more disappointing than its earlier title of the LoveKami series by featuring fewer songs and BGM, and a shorter and more simplistic storyline. As such, this game is recommended only when it's at a good discount or bundle offer due to the short playing time and simple storyline. the game is tagged with nudity and sexual contents, doesn't deserve either. the plot went nowhere, 1 choice, so not a game. can barely even be called a visual novel.
Should you get this game? Well, if you like cute love stories told in visual novel format, with a generous dollop of fanservice thrown in, then yes, you absolutely should. Otherwise, it might not be the game for you. LoveKami -Useless Goddess- is not really a sequel to Pulltop/MoeNovel's other LoveKami game, though it takes place in the same universe. I haven't played that game myself, so I can't compare the two, but this game stands on its own quite well; you don't need to have played the first game in order to fully enjoy this one. The protagonist is a super-ordinary guy named Sho who, on his way back from the convenience store one night, runs into a girl passed out in the street. It turns out she's one of the goddesses that's come to Earth, although she's what's known as an "aragami" - a troublesome goddess, of sorts. Sho shares his food with her, and decides to bring her back home until they figure out what can be done for her. Wacky hijinks ensue almost immediately. We're introduced to the three girls in the game: Akane, the aforementioned aragami whose power has been causing blackouts in the city; Inori, the town's guardian goddess whose responsibility it is to try and rehabilitate Akane; and Maika, the de facto landlady of the apartment complex where she and Sho live, and Sho's childhood friend. They all have their charms and they all fit at least a couple standard anime/VN tropes, which is par for the course for this type of game, I suppose. (And they all have absurdly large breasts, so hey, if that's your thing, you're in for a treat.) The format of this game is a little different than most visual novels, in that there's very little interaction with the story. It is a "visual novel" in the purest sense - a text-based story told with slightly-animated pictures. Most games in the VN genre have you choosing dialogue options left and right, but not this game; you're pretty much just along for the ride. The game is divided into four distinct parts: there's the common route which establishes the back story and sets the scene for the rest of the game, and then there's individual routes for each of the three girls. The sole choice in this game is where the three individual routes branch off. (The easiest thing to do for completion is to save right at the choice screen, then re-load from that point to finish each of the individual routes.) I highly recommend that you do Maika's route last; the two goddesses can be done in either order, but there's some additional backstory in Maika's route that makes things seem... a little off if you do her route first. You can probably clear the game 100% in about 8 hours; 2 hours for the common route, and 2 hours for each of the individual routes. Also, let's be clear about one thing: there is some mild fanservice in this game, but that's it. There's no R18 scenes or anything like that. Frankly, some of the most tittilating parts of the game aren't the visuals, but the descriptive text (and some of the accompanying voice lines). If you're expecting this game to be more porny than it is, you might be disappointed; however, if you're just expecting a bit of ecchi, I'd say it's perfect. The visuals in this game are very nice; the girls are beautiful, and the backgrounds are rather well done (except for one scene where you're at a festival, and the text describes the venue as being packed with people, but the background is... completely empty of people). The sound design is great - the voice acting is excellent, and I found myself humming some of the background tunes to myself even while I wasn't playing. The options menu provides a good number of things to tweak, and there's a gallery for both images and audio once you've unlocked them through the story. Overall, I definitely recommend this game. Each of the girls' individual routes present a really cute love story, with just enough raciness to liven things up (especially Maika's route, wow). If this sounds like your thing, you should absolutely pick up this game.
An aggressively mediocre kinetic novel (it's not a visual novel, a visual novel is a game where you have agency and the ability to control what your protagonist does and how the story goes, not just one where you make a single choice of which one of three entirely-linear stories you read at a time), LoveKami -Useless Goddess- is dull, cliche, and really very glurgy. The plot never really goes anywhere, the conclusions to each story route are incredibly weak, and the initial story thread (convincing a slacker goddess to become a pop idol to make something of herself) NEVER gets resolved in any of the routes- that's right, Akane NEVER becomes a pop idol, even in her own story. The characters are one-note, not terribly engaging, and Akane in particular, the titular "Useless Goddess" herself, is actually rather irritating. It's hard to say this without sounding like the kind of mouth-breathing neckbeard who humps his anime love pillow every night, but the story genuinely suffers badly from NOT being a H-game. There IS an adults-only version of the game, but this isn't it, there's no patch for it, and nobody cares enough to make a mod for it. I've never had much regard for ecchi, and this game is a prime example of why- in the last third of each route you're in a serious romantic relationship with one of the girls, and the fact that things never actually do escalate physically is honestly implausible. It's not like the game is SFW anyway- being an ecchi game means all three girls (Akane, Inori and Maika) have bosoms like barrage balloons, cleavages you could lose a chihuahua in, and dress like streetwalkers. Akane's top is so skimpy you can literally see her areolas peeping over the edges, Inori's is so low-cut it would make Lulu from FFX blush, and Maika's low-cut sweater has her lace-trimmed bra visibly showing over it, and there are scenes in the game where Akane bukkakes ice-cream onto her boobs and invites you to lick it off, Inori crawls through a hole too small for her and almost displays her entire package at you when her clothes get stuck, and Maika responds to you accidentally nicking your finger with a knife by performing fellatio on it. So the game is as lewd as hell, but lacks any actual SEX that would give the romantic relationships some real weight. It's like a schoolboy who steals his father's cigarettes and puts one in his mouth to try and convince his classmates he's "cool", but is too afraid to actually light it (not that I'm in any way endorsing underage smoking, mind, or smoking at ANY age, but you get what I mean, right?). Technically the game is nothing special. The much-vaunted E-Mote system just turns the girls into paper dolls that sway back and forth like trees in the breeze, occasionally blinking, while their mouths switch between a closed sprite and an open sprite that shrinks and stretches to simulate speaking. The girls have 1 pose, 2 outfits and a handful of facial expressions each, and you can probably count the total number of backgrounds on your fingers (with variants for different times of day and lighting). Nekopara this is not. Not the worst kinetic novel masquerading as a visual novel I've ever wasted time on (that's still Sakura Spirit), LoveKami -Useless Goddess- still isn't very interesting or worth your time. I only picked it up because the publisher bundle was on sale, and it was still quite a chore to get through. Not worth your time, unless you just want some giant boobs and don't care that you never actually get to see them bare.
Well, this looked a interesting story with one pink haired very busty cute babe and two others whom also looked nice. As for the game play and images overall, not impressed at all. it states adult themed and nudity. But I saw zero nudity or adult themes at all? Nice big bust on the main pink hair babe looked great wobbling and bouncing around in her bikini like top, However you never see any bare boobs or nipples ( so much for the nudity waning ) Te most you get to see is some bare leg and cleavage! Not impressed at all in a game which seems to set it's self up as another adult style sexy semi nude babes hentai game. with sexy cute women but let's you down on nudity? Even some bare boobs and nipples been nice. The pink girls bust would have been lovely wobbling and bounce free. Big let down really.
So this is the second volume of the LoveKami series... at least on this side of the Pacific (I think there might be other games that are... more explicit in Japan with the name LoveKami). Unlike in the last one where you dealt with idols, this one starts around a goddess who is a bit more... carefree. As in, she doesn't like to follow the rules, which causes... problems. In this case, blackouts. Her name is Akane Tsubaki, and she happens to stumble across the protagonist, Sho Narumi, who helps her and being kind-hearted agrees to let her follow him home... to the Tsubaki Apartments... who Akane is the house kami of, though she hadn't stumbled there after the Coming of the Goddesses. Soon following is Inori Kamiki, the goddess of Kannagi, the area of Tokyo the blackouts are occurring in. She is in charge of rehabbing Akane, as deities who do not control their powers, or Aragami, need to be rehabbed before they fade away... which would be bad for the places they are supposed to watch over. Also there is Sho's childhood friend Maika Kunugi, who is the landlady as well. Now there are three paths chosen during the one choice in the game (which actually takes place in the middle of the common path). Maika's is the traditional childhood friends become lovers (though not sleeping together lovers; no where in the game does it appear that happens). Akane's... well, it's a nice path, since Akane starts to get rehabilitated because she is interested in becoming a local idol (which may or may not happen after the game ends). However, issues start to rise because she starts trying to not cause harm because of someone else... It does end very nicely, though.
You learn that actually her blackouts (caused by her emotional instability) may actually have been holding off a worse blackout. But she makes it better.
Inori's is also a great route. She is a bit earthy and innocent. And the ending is also great. There are also a few comedic notes about possible children (she's an earth deity, which also likely means fertility, so when they start having "relations", they may end up with a litter). A fun read, filled with comedic notes. You should definitely try it. You may want to read the prior volume, Divinity Stage, first, though.
LoveKami -Useless Goddess is a very good visual novel game with a beautiful story. The graphics are nice and the soundtrack is Chill and relaxing... I don't usually play this kind of game but the MoeNovel games are really great!!! I highly recommend it. 💗💗💗
