Love Quest VR: Los Angeles

Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. Love Quest VR is "pick 1 of 4 replies" dating sim with low quality 180 degrees 3D FMVs. It's entirely linear and poorly made. I have no idea who is this for: it contains zero nudity, while not being funny or self-aware in the slightest. I mean, there are a lot of incredibly dumb lines of dialogue, that would be funny to choose, but after doing that the game just gives you some generic "♥♥♥♥ off" reply by the girl and boots you back into the main lobby. And sometimes even the correct answer is ridiculously stupid: I remember, one of the "winning" choices was something like "You can call me Mr. Uni Corn". The game is shoddily made overall: it has low quality videos and choppy cuts between girls' idle animations and answers. Main scenes take part in a relatively dark bar, which is a terrible idea for 3D footage, because such lighting makes them even grainier. Showing 2d text on top of 3D video is also not a good design decision, that drastically lowers the readability. Works on Reverb G2

Love Quest VR: Los Angeles is a paid VR FMV game, using 180 3D video. It worked on my Index and HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was barely understandable. You have four women to get to know. The voice overs are in English but some of the important voice overs are done by someone with a Eurpean heavy accent, that makes it hard to understand. Might have to turn the background music way down. Background music has a volume control, and you can select subtitles. You are presented with four dialog choices per branch and you have to guess or decide what the NPC wants to hear in reply. There are bad choices, that will sink your conversation, then you have to start over. Maybe buy, if you are a male looking for women. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. The developers have done an excellent job of creating realistic situations that teach players how to approach girls. Each scenario has unique obstacles, that make it both challenging and rewarding when players succeed in overcoming them.

This was an amazing game. I binged at it for over 9 hours. Amazing graphics with really cool characters. I highly recommend getting this game if you have trouble starting a conversation with girls in public or if you just want to upgrade your talking skills.

No idea where the positive reviews are coming from. Video quality is bad, zero interactions, just choose 1 out of 4 lines and 3 of them are "wrong" choices and brings you to the game over screen instantly. Then you start again from the very beginning choosing a girl again and wait until you automatically walk to her - which feels like it takes forever - and don't even think about looking around in your fancy VR headset as it's not interactive in any way. Furthermore it's totally unrealistic, I mean what girl would not fall for a line like "You are no prostitue, aren't you?" Best refund ever.

while its premise is good. There's still game breaking bugs that haven't been ironed out yet. I'm going through the first story line, got to the 2nd date and it crashes every time I make a selection. I would seriously wait til it's actually been fixed before trying.

Amazing job, five stars from me. 4k is okay, but I prefer it upscaled to 8k (with Topaz AI or similar tools) - the results look crisper.
