Tags: Adventure - VN - Visual Novel Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Unmemorable. Match3 was bad. Modern writing with adult protagnist. Interactivity limited. Some plot twists give illusion of choice that mostly works which is good. Multiple endings. So this is a simple story in which you, through a series of choices, get to meet a few people in mostly an office/after work/weekend sort of routine. Similar in structure to how high school VN's are structured. The adult female protagonist was a decent change, with dialogue offering to take your ex husband to the cleaner's. Hit on your intern or develop a curiosity for the same sex. Every fan service scene has been replaced by a timelapse of traffic going on at night. Its an artistic rendition that takes a bit of imagination and dragged on for a tad too long each time. Ultimately the game is not overly complex however in that you can either stick with your husband by moving with him, or strike off and get the interior decorator job. Then you can branch back into the husband line, or branch off into the intern or woman line and you get to nudge or confirm your choices through the odd dialogue choice here and there. Most of the narrative is on rails and involve daily preoccupations and inane musings on the character you meet. Altogether its a rather harmless and vaguely enjoyable title but not one that is memorable or get you really involved either. Chances are you would have more fun just watching a decent romantic comedy movie instead, the interactivity of the game is still a bit too lacking for that to matter and real actors and real scripts from movies easily outclass amateur VN efforts like this. The paperdoll on realphotos came across as lazily done and not visually engaging. Audio was just notes of piano looping, elevator music style with not much variation. Removing local content permanently and moving to hidden library for declutter.

This was a very surprising VN. “Love in the Glen” is about an interior designer called “Zoe Richardson”, who the player controls. Like most visual novels, you go through the story making choices and decisions for her and then watch her destiny unfold in front of your very eyes. In that sense there is nothing new and it’s what you’d expect from a Visual Novel. Not that that’s a bad thing, if you buy a chocolate cake you do expect it to taste like chocolate, do you not? The surprising thing about it is the storyline. It really doesn’t feel very anime at all. Which does come as a surprise as one does expect a VN to somewhat have an anime feel (remember my chocolate cake reference? Well that applies here too). That being said, it’s not a bad story, the writing is actually pretty damn good. Granted there are some odd moments where you get a surprisingly short storyline, if you embark on one of the long ones you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. Especially if you’re like me and have already read many VN’s and are looking for something different. If you haven’t ever played a VN before then I wouldn’t recommend this game as it is in so many ways not like other VN’s and you might get the wrong impression of the genre. Other aspects of the VN were rather good too. I liked the cute little mini game and the music was always very nice and fitted the mood really well. Of course it had it’s weak points too, there are no game settings and there are some bits in the story that felt a bit odd. All in all a good VN with an entertaining story! Chocolate cake! TL;DR A good all-round VN but rather different to most. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone as his or her first Visual Novel, but for anyone who happens to like them, this is a must-have.
