Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders

I'm so pleased to play this game! Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders elevates everything Downhill did, while also adding in some new features, such as online play, trick mode, and an over-the-shoulder camera. For a game about going fast and continuously setting a quicker pace, I always feel an intense zen when playing this franchise. The atmosphere and ambience make feel like that I'm actually hitting the slopes. Exploration is so much fun and each level takes me several playthroughs to find the optimal route. The visual design and use of color are a pleasure to look at and experience. The gameplay especially shines, as I'm just as addicted at trying again and again to get the fastest time possible. This never feels like a chore or makes me feel sweaty, everything about the experience is well designed and the course difficulty feels fair. Props to the devs for adding in the new camera angle. Based on the first game, I thought this was non-negotiable. My playthrough of this game has been so much smoother because of this change and I appreciate the devs ability to listen to the fans.

It's very hard, but it stops being frustrating when you stop trying to win, and take opportunities to explore your mountain and figure out ways forward without worrying about meeting challenges. Treat it like a real ski hill...your first days are all about finding your stashes, and you won't set any records if you don't even know the way down.

Relaxing and beautiful to look at, yet challenging and addicting. Had fun playing solo and online. The controls are very precise, hunting your own or others' personal bests, mastering a slope, gaining/maintaining more and more speed on every section is such a satisfying feeling. Looking forward to play new tracks with awesome new landscapes (updates/DLCs).

The camera takes a few minutes to get used to, but you should absolutely push through: this game is a joy to play! The feeling of freedom you get is incredible, the sensation of speed is exhilarating. My favorite part is the fact that you get to experiment to find the best (often hidden and/or dangerous) line to get faster and faster. 10/10, would crash into a tree again. Bonus: plays very well on Steam Deck too!

Hay que ser sinceros: el juego original estaba mucho más conseguido. Además, la decisión de lanzar nuevos recorridos de pago cuando el juego base apenas tiene contenido propio es un error de manual que huele a sacacuartos. Aquí no hay un guion profundo ni NPCs dándote la chapa. El juego está diseñado con un claro enfoque hacia el online, invitando a la gente a salir y hacer rutas juntos en la nieve. Esto tiene un precio, porque han dejado de lado los desafíos para un solo jugador, ofreciendo una experiencia con muy poca profundidad una vez que completas las 4 montañas . Jugablemente, han inyectado una dosis brutal de [b]velocidad[/b], y para domarla han implementado una nueva cámara trasera que te permite controlar mejor estos tramos tan veloces. Otro gran acierto es que [b]cada esquí cambia tu manera de enfrentarte a la montaña[/b], algo que no pasaba con las bicicletas del primer juego. Por desgracia, el diseño de niveles ha empeorado; ya no tienes esa sensación de poder bajar por donde quieras, limitándote a rutas demasiado claras y sin apenas recovecos. A nivel técnico, sigue siendo una delicia visual. El apartado gráfico es excepcional y cada una de las montañas es súper diferente a la anterior, incluso hay una que esta un entorno tropilcal / maya que es una pasada. Todo esto viene acompañado de unos efectos de sonidos que terminan de redondear la inmersión mientras te deslizas por las rutas. [i]Aunque sus cuatro montañas te las puedes ventilar en apenas 8 horas y tiene una alarmante falta de contenido base, sigue siendo un título que merece la pena comprar si te gustó su antecesor.
