Note: Copy obtained for free from a dev giveaway on the /v/3 stream. Thanks! Pros - I found it to be quite spooky. The made me tense in quiet moments and made me jump when it wanted to. Any and all scares in this game are tasteful, nothing cheap. The story was enjoyable enough and kept me playing. - Nice retrofuturistic GUIs. And the video content is also appropriately stylised, and I really like it. - All the maps are in-universe paper which I like. Sort of like Silent Hill. The same applies to ingame documents and notes. Quality stuff. - Some very interesting gimmicks. I really like the idea of ||using the flash on a camera to briefly be able to see|| and the game does as much as can be done with it. There's lots more. - No issues with the puzzles. Nothing had me completely stumped, and I felt clever when I worked some out. A music puzzle had me for a while, but I'm not too good with that kind of thing. - I like the enemies and situations you're put in to. Some tense stuff here. There is a very interesting enemy here I haven't seen elsewhere that's a sort of inverse of a more common horror game enemy type.
Too many horror monsters move when you aren't looking. How about one that's the other way around?
- You play an arcade game in this game where you get a ball on a platform through a maze of holes. I like that. - A Silent Hill 1 comparison is apt. Lots of the spooky areas are just like the ones from Silent Hill 1. - The ending sequence is such a massive upward leap in quality and uniqueness. It's amazing stuff. How the HELL did they do that? There were a lot of parts throughout where I was pleasantly surprised by the effort on display. - There's a bonus level filled with concept art and such. Cons - It never really feels like it is or ever was a vacation program at all. If it's never clean and running smoothly, the effect of horror being added never lands. You have to have some wholesome nice beachside fun shown on screen before Jaws shows up. Also, is there an in universe explanation for
why the spooky areas look like Silent Hill's Otherworld? They look good, but it just never made sense.
- I know this is a spooky horror game but your stamina and stamina regeneration speed are pitiful. You can get more by finding CDs. Most of these are hidden by another ball balancing game and they get old if you go for all the CDs. Your regen rate doesn't change, just maximum capacity. At least the game is balanced for it. - The designs of an antagonist. Maybe don't make the design of an important character a reference to a movie, as good a movie as it is.
I shouldn't be asking why the baddie of this game is dressed like a droog.
I recommend it. Enough unique is done for it to be well worth your time.
Un excellent jeu d'horreur ! Flippant, mais pas du tout relou. Pleins de bonnes idées, et des moments d'anthologie ! Sautez dessus, ça vaut le coût !
Terrific game design, very spooky
Very good game. The atmosphere mixes styles from liminal space, silent hill, backrooms. At the same time, it does it in its own style. The plot is well-led and concerns AI problem. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. In my opinion, it could have been ended and led much better. What is impressive is the game breaking the 4th wall and has real impact on the player and his computer. At some point, you will really be surprised. I recommend it.
I found the game rather interesting in style and concept but overall the game just isn't very fun when it comes to playing it. The stamina bar artificially makes the game feel longer. There are too many long moments of nothing happening I think if the game was half as long it could have helped it and I think I'd still have enjoyed the price of admission but it's just too long with nothing particularly interesting for long moments of it. I see some promise from the developer and I hope to see them do more. ★★☆☆☆
Nice and suspenseful horror, I enjoyed my playthrough
Отличный, хоть и небольшой хоррор. Да, сюжет чутка банален (ууу, злой ИИ), но реализация качественная и нагоняющая ужас.
I Liked this a lot, good gameplay and design. Worth the price :) Also runs great on Steam Deck
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
