Exciting and strategic dice combat!!! Its lots of fun discovering all the different ways you can combine different dice faces to create a unique battle plan. The dice and plentiful cardboard landscapes feel really physical and its satisfying rolling a bunch of dice at once and watching them pile up! Dice go brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
this game is really fun. it's like battle yahtzee where you can make your own dice. it also has great adjustable graphics and approachability features! really recommend giving it a try.
I was given this game for free a few days before the official launch, so my 2-ish hours are solely based on that build. No, I was not given compensation for playing the game and my review is unbiased. Load Roll Die is a Roguelite Dicebuilder game, in which you move your little blob character through various randomized maps, fighting enemies and bosses, collecting different types of dice and powers for each die. It's a very challenging game, but in a way I don't think it really should be. Being a game revolving around dice, it's reliance on RNG is almost absolute, with an almost healthy amount of strategy involved, given that you can create some interesting and powerful builds if you have the right powers and the correct dice, but it's always a gamble to see what you loot from enemies, find in chests and buy from shops, which items are sometimes overly expensive for the small amount of currency you get overall. Enemies get from easy to hard really quickly as well, each one having their own specific builds that sometimes are perfected to do something specific, such as replicating dice, dealing a lot of poison damage, destroying a bunch of your own dice, etc, most of which are extremely reliable and non-RNG dependant, contrary to your shabby builds at those levels. Some other issues lie in QoL stuff, such as some powers being confusing to understand from their descriptions being vague or poorly explained, and how at the start of the game you can start off without any dice on accident, making you unable to advance. One thing I noticed is that there are accessibility options that allow you to halven enemy damage, double your own damage, make you invincible etc so you can just enjoy a more sandboxy playthrough, and that's pretty cool but I don't consider it to be a "fix" to the balancing issues, since it's an alternate way to mess with difficulty options instead of playing the game the way it's meant to be played. Now, why am I recommending the game, despite talking about multiple flaws and balance issue I had during each session? Well, the game is still very fun to play, the multitude of different powers is always nice to experiment with in different strategies, the RNG is personally something that I welcome in general, even if in this game it can be a bit too much, and really I think this game has a lot of potential to grow better, given that the developers provide balancing changes, QoL updates and just keep working on the game. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to test the game out prior to its release, and I really look forward to what you guys will do with it. Cheers.
Slay the spire with dice, pretty solid!
Gameplay has a surprising amount of depth with the custom dice and dice defense mechanics. Definitely worth playing, looking forward to more games / updates from the studio.
Dead game...
Roguelike de armado de dados en 3d con mucha variedad de cosasss
An interesting game. The ability to modify your die is a great concept and allows for very high customization. The UI is somewhat lacking, but this game has a lot of potential.
I was able to finish two battles in half an hour due to the slow animation speeds, the high durability of enemies, and the fact that many turns resulted in no change in the game state. If the game speeds up the animation, improves dice rolling, and allows more controls over the results, like adding a resource that can be spent to adjust which face is showing, it could be good. Right now, thanks to dull, overly long battles, I felt I wasted my time.
I have to say that i enjoyed my first runs. This game has so much potential and is very much something i could play for 100hrs ++. But for me now there is not much depth in the game, i hope there are gonna be more updates, and i also think that the art is to childish. It feels like it was drawn by a 5 year old... Just hire a decent artist and make the game look more proffesional. It needs better music aswell then the same ol medieval tune all game. Also add more damaging type dice, for example ''attack for twice the amount of a roll''. Also higher numbers and an option to sell dice. Overall a potentially good game Feels alot like an unfinished game I am gonna give it a thumbs up because i want the game to grow and succeed ;)
