"Angry Squirrel" is yet another crapware / deadware featuring a bitter little rodent that goes around hopping and collecting nuts to survive. Squirrels do have to resort to some advanced "gymnastics" in the Winter to be able to find their nuts and keep themselves from starving, but this little fella is way too hungry. As goofy as it might look at first, "Angry Squirrel" is generic, bland and not winning any awards for creativity or intelligent world-design any time soon. Even my dog could probably code something better.
Overview: "Angry Squirrel" is a whimsical and engaging indie platformer available on Steam that puts players in the shoes (or paws) of a determined squirrel on a mission to recover its stolen acorn stash. Developed by a small team at Nutty Games, this title combines classic platforming mechanics with modern design elements, creating a charming experience that appeals to both nostalgia seekers and newcomers alike. Graphics and Art Style: The game boasts a delightful 2D pixel art style that captures the essence of retro platformers while injecting its own unique flair. Each level is beautifully crafted with vibrant colors and intricate details that bring the woodland environment to life. Character animations are smooth and expressive, adding personality to the protagonist and its adversaries. Whether it's navigating through dense forests or scaling towering tree trunks, the visual presentation of "Angry Squirrel" is both captivating and cohesive. Gameplay Mechanics: "Angry Squirrel" excels in its gameplay mechanics, offering a blend of precision platforming and puzzle-solving elements. As players progress through various levels, they must utilize the squirrel's abilities such as jumping, gliding, and wall-climbing to overcome obstacles and evade enemies. Each stage presents new challenges and cleverly designed puzzles that require strategic thinking and quick reflexes. The controls are responsive and intuitive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. Level Design: The level design in "Angry Squirrel" is where the game truly shines. Each level is intricately designed to offer a balance of exploration, challenge, and reward. From sprawling forests to perilous caves, each environment feels distinct and offers its own set of obstacles and secrets to uncover. Hidden paths, collectibles, and alternative routes encourage exploration and replayability, keeping players engaged throughout their adventure. The pacing is well-executed, gradually ramping up in difficulty while introducing new gameplay mechanics and enemies to keep things fresh. Sound and Music: Complementing its visual charm, "Angry Squirrel" features a delightful soundtrack that captures the whimsical and adventurous spirit of the game. Each track is carefully composed to enhance the atmosphere of the different environments, whether it's the serene melodies of the forest or the upbeat tempo of an action-packed chase sequence. Sound effects are also well-crafted, from the rustling of leaves to the comical chatter of forest creatures, further immersing players in the game's vibrant world. Story and Narrative: While "Angry Squirrel" focuses primarily on gameplay, it weaves a simple yet endearing narrative through charming cutscenes and interactions with other woodland creatures. The story unfolds as the squirrel embarks on its quest to reclaim its acorns, encountering quirky characters and unexpected challenges along the way. While not heavily plot-driven, the narrative adds a layer of charm and motivation to the gameplay experience, making the journey feel more meaningful. Conclusion: Overall, "Angry Squirrel" is a delightful indie platformer that successfully captures the essence of classic gaming while introducing fresh ideas and a charming visual style. With its engaging gameplay mechanics, beautifully crafted levels, and endearing narrative, the game offers a rewarding experience for players of all ages. Whether you're a fan of platformers or simply looking for a lighthearted adventure, "Angry Squirrel" is a title that deserves a spot in your gaming library. Nutty Games has crafted a gem that stands out in the crowded indie gaming scene, showcasing creativity, passion, and a deep appreciation for the art of game design.
♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ ass game
Game doesn't let you progress past level 13 and just glitches which is a shame and should be fixed. Aside from that the game is fun but I cannot give a positive review for a game that is broken.
Why is the squirrel angry? We may never know... Sadly, as it stands, this promising indie title is abandonware.
