Throw your toys into your fire, and play with them as they burn. An adventure that takes place almost entirely in front of a fireplace - about looking up up up out of the chimney, and the cold world just on the other side of the wall. From the creators of World of Goo and Human Resource Machine.

Not very long, but it's a fun little game worth picking up.
I bought the base game (and later DLC), already knowing what to expect, as I have watched gameplays of this a longgg time ago. Still, I didn't find myself getting bored or stuck on some combo since the game doesn't punish you for wasting money on a bunch of stuff just to not be able to connect the ideas together. I think the least fun parts were regarding the planets, as they caused the most environmental damage to other items so I often had to restart some attempt at a combo as they would ruin the more fragile stuff (like glass or ice) BUT overall it wasn't that big of a bother. The given tickets or however they were called were enough to speed the game up, keep it going. I LOVED the way the environment felt, it gave off pre-apocalyptic (? I hope that's a word, english is not my native) vibes, where the world goes through an extreme weather change to the point where children's world doesn't revolve around toys or any other possessions but the desire and the will to keep themselves warm. The letters become your only source of information how it is outside, Sugar Plumps is a great character, showcasing how an obsession can lead to a crash AND how sometimes that crash is what you need to change, to move on. Of course, everyone can see the ending however they want but I like to look at it from a more hopeful/positive side. The winter is eternal in the confines of that city and to me that's a good symbolism of those, who continue living in isolated areas and families, never letting themselves know any better as to change the place you need to "burn" your past environment. I wish for everyone to find their "warmth" that they seek for, as the fireplace is not enough to sustain your desire for it. I was unsure about the other characters and their morals, but the weatherman was entertaining, plus I like d the sounds and music while you were reading the letters. Achievements-wise, it was easy BUT the DLC felt like a nothing burger so to see you have to replay the whole thing with just a single character change (when Sugar Plumps is much more interesting imo) and a whole added catalog, meaning remaking old combos and making up new ones (some were fun but again, repetitive with the old ones) I am not sure what could have been made better but this felt forced and I really only completed DLC for the achievements. Overall, base game? fascinating, great, nice mysterious world building. Simple but entertaining characters, enough hours put into to finish the game and get the ending. Not hard to gain money, even when you screw up some combos, interesting advertisement for the fireplace lol. Not very replayable though (like how the DLC disappointed me)
First found out about this game when I was little watching a jacksepticeye playthrough of it and after many years I was able to play it myself. This is such a comforting game that instantly welcomes you with its charming illustrations, quirky characters, addictive gameplay, and insightful commentary about consumer culture. Loved every bit about this game and it definitely gave me a warm feeling while playing :)

Good game 10/10
