Little Desktop Runner

Fun little desktop game where you just watch your little guy/girl run. The loop is basically you have limited energy and your character needs to level up so each run you get XP as you go which levels up your stats which allows you to run further and meanwhile you come across resources that you can then use back at your home to build things that then give you extra energy. There's not a whole lot to do which would be a problem if the game was priced higher but for less than £1 I'd say it's worth it, it's neat to see the different areas and just to see your character going on this journey that slowly gets longer and longer. The only things I wish it had would be 1. a way to manually resize the window like other desktop games have as only having a large and small option basically is too limiting, sometimes you want it to be slightly bigger or slightly smaller depending on what you're doing, 2. A way to change the opacity of the window as you don't always want it fully visible if you're doing other things and if you're watching a video being able to essentially turn the brightness down (while allowing you to see through it) makes it less of an eyesore and 3. this is more of a hope rather than something that needs to be added but it would be cool if there would be a way if possible to maybe have a greenscreen effect option where it only shows the path and the characters making everything else invisible that way you can appreciate him running while also allowing you to see more on your desktop (perhaps an option to scale the effect? So you can have some of the parts showing above/below for example). Overall though it's a neat little thing to have open and definitely worth the cheap price.

"Minimal Interaction" is putting it lightly. I would call this more like a 12 hour cutscene. I'm not complaining when it's a whole whopping $1 though. While this game serves as an achievement mill, its not insulting like an asset flip hunk of garbage like Red Wake Carnage. There's a little story here as you follow your character's journey to gather materials to fix their home and continue their love of running there after. There's a heart and soul behind it, and the dev does not lie to you about what the game is. It's a 12 hour over-the-desktop ''game'' that you occasionally poke at to advance the story. There's no overly involved systems or "ascending", your character just runs as far as they can, returns home, and enjoys a conversation with their companion before returning to the jog. Simple, straightforward, exactly what it says it is. $1 is a perfectly fair price for something so honest and unobtrusive.

Helped test the game, it's a nice little cozy thing to keep in the background and occasionally interact with. Your character returning to their partner and the little conversation bits in-between runs actually made me remember and appreciate my own relationship with my partner as well.

This kind of reminds me of the mini chocobo game (Chocobo World) that came with FF8 game folder... but with less gameplay... you basically just click the run button and wait till your hero ran out of stamina, have to wait for the hero to return to base so it's a double trip... then you'll have to click the go again after your hero recover stamina... you'll collect some items on your way along the trip for building and upgrading your base (very simple design) and that's all to the game play part.

Da-da da da (Da-da da da) Da-da da da (Da-da da da) Walk the walk, talk the talk. Not really a full idler; requires some oversight to keep running when you return home. Gradually the time out walking grows longer. I found it amusing for the time it took to finish seeing it all. It's not much of a game though. It's not much of a screensaver either. I don't regret getting it. It was nice for what it is and what it is can best be described as a cake walk. Da-da dum diddy dum diddy dum diddy da da da.

If you’re looking for something to keep in a small window while you do other things, this is fine for what it is. It’s a simple, moderately interesting way to kill a few seconds here and there. Being honest, the gameplay loop isn't really developed or particularly attractive—there’s zero depth here. However, for the price I paid, I really can't complain or ask for more. It’s not a masterpiece by any means, but as a low-cost distraction to have running in the background, it’s okay. It serves its purpose, and at this price point, that's enough.
