The walking simulator part is nice while the driving game is a problem.
If you like this developer, you'll enjoy this game, though it is unconventional compared to his usual style. As you probably already know, it's sort of two games in one. The walking simulator portions are what we're all here for, and that is a pleasant, calm experience. One problem is that the story is told through notes, and comma usage is just all over the place, which makes it a pain to read at times. There is an occasional typo as well, but that's nowhere near as bothersome as the terrible comma placement. Cleaning up that issue would have vastly improved the overall experience. I know many people are not as bothered by such things as me, so perhaps others aren't concerned about this at all.
Little Brother Jim Positives: + Beautiful and varied landscapes and nature + Good graphics + Nice letters + Mostly cool parking game + Cute little story + Fine music and sound + Makes you reflect over life + Longer than other games from TB Negatives: - Footstep sound are annoying to listen to - Quite low FOV (and no adjustment option) - Some weird limitations on where you can explore - The fog areas - Some parking levels are long enough - Could have done more to the story - No voiceover on the letters - No jump function - Slow running speed Total Score: 7.5/10
Another walking simulator. It's a story of two brothers. Better than Drizzlepath (previous work from this dev) but that's not saying much. The story is actually kinda sad if you decide to read the letters.
a beautiful & emotional little journey. could've done without the driving. I wish it was easier to skip over and resume walking
Get it on sale or as part of a bundle. The walking simulator portions of the game are pretty short. The driving parts seem to be just filler, and they can also be skipped if you don't like them. Story isn't bad though, for what there is, and the game is put together well.
Felt like two separate games stuck together for no reason. They also had two different art styles. If there was less of the bear driving levels and some sort of connection to the walking sim part of the game, I'd say this was a good game. Feel free to play it though if you wish. Pro top: Skip the driving bear levels by hitting the N key.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how this game went. I think the driving game represents Jim very well and I like the juxtaposition from it to Paul walking to each mailbox. There was direction with the walking portion and the driving game was coded very well (plus I love bears so seeing that a bear was driving made me laugh). It's different than what Tonguç usually makes, but I liked it.
Orta.
