at first i didn't get it and dropped it. but, i watched a video review and came back to the game with a bit more effort. i'd recommend watching a spoiler-free backstory video first, since the game doesn't really explain the setup well. but, once the plot gets going, it's one of the most wacky and emotional stories i've seen in gaming. it's this crazy mashup of undertale, fallout, and children of men. the gameplay is whatever, but the impact of the story and your decisions make this an easy 10/10.
I liked The Joyful more than The Painful, but in general this didn't click for me. Feels dated in a lot of ways but it's okay.

A formative experience that I will never recover from or forget for as long as I live. While I am not a fan of the definitive edition changes, the legacy version still holds up well and regardless of the game version you will not have a bad time (I think...).
