About
Liminal Shroud is a first-person psychological horror experience driven by atmosphere, not monsters or combat. Set within surreal environments that evoke a twisted sense of nostalgia, your focus is on navigating shifting spaces and concealed routes while piecing together fragments of a mystery woven into the Shroud itself.
By interacting with the spaces and objects around you, you'll uncover and the truth behind the Shroud… hopefully before you become a part of it.
Liminal Shroud has been praised by players for:
Original Environments: Every space is original, handcrafted and deeply atmospheric.
Rewarding Exploration: Discover fragments of a story hidden in the architecture and audio design.
Unsettling Soundscapes: A standout sound design praised by streamers for its intensity and originality.
Analog Horror Aesthetic: A visual style that evokes the 1970s and 80s, amplifying the nostalgic unease.
Flexible Gameplay: There are no timers, enemies, or precision tasks. All the of the puzzles are visual, there is no walls of text, just the minimal UI.
Engage with the world you explore and unlock its secrets. Discover which laws of reality can be broken, but beware... This place doesn't want you to escape!
There are no monsters that chase you, but an inescapable dark presence watches your every move. The game has minimal UI, realistic environments and dark soundscapes to lose yourself in. Passages take many shapes and it's up to you to escape from this twisted reality.

Very good game enjoyed it alot :)
Rich, atmospheric game that both warms the heart with childhood nostalgia and chills the back of the neck with the quiet dread. The game invokes the feelings of a child--the heart racing, gleeful, thrilling excitement of exploring beyond where you should be underpinned with the strong anxiety that imaginary threats glimpsed deep in the shadows may be more than just whimsy. Are you truly alone? Here at last the Shroud opens. Dare to pass within for there is no one to stop you...and no one to save you. Things i liked about this game - unique atmospheres I've never seen before in a liminal game. There is little to no frustration trying to find the next exit because the maps are smaller and flow naturally towards the next transition. Puzzles are simple and encourage you to explore to complete them. Some of the sounds and scares are timed just right to give you that good scare. Things I would change about the game - some of the areas are too saturated with sound/scares. [I play tested multiple versions of this game and had access to a completed copy of the game for testing purposes. I also purchased the finished game.]

Incredible attention to detail, and refreshingly unique areas to explore. Beautiful visuals. Best in its class. Liminal Shroud is more than a typical walking sim. It has enough interaction to keep you engaged, and it is densely packed with details at just the right amount, that it doesn't feel 'crammed', but also holds on to the liminal space vibe. It has some spook factor, without being overly horrifying. A few levels did push my not-quite-new GPU in to single fps but it wasn't overly detracting from the experience. I never once wanted to 'run' through an area. A short experience, but that is not unexpected. If you are a fan of liminal space and walking sim games, this is a must buy.
Fantastic ambience, soundtrack, and level designs. Definitely on the scarier side of liminal walking sims - primarily for well-placed sound effects - but there are no cheap shots pulled here. It also looks fantastic and runs smooth, which, despite my hardware, is not a given for this style of game (and believe me, I've played a LOT of these). Settings menu is appropriately fleshed out with lots of graphics and controls settings, and devs are actively monitoring for bugs via Discord which is great to see. Bravo!
Yep, nice one!
Amazing liminal game and worth trying if you love liminal games. The exploration, art design, and liminal spaces are very unique and absolutely beautiful to look like, but the general atmosphere is a but unsettling and can be spooky, so be prepared for that.
Felt more like a linear, cozy, and nice-looking haunted house attraction than a liminal space exploration game, but I still enjoyed it (because it's cozy and nice-looking). Pros: -You can sit -Plenty of cool spaces -The oasis/fake forest area in the last chapter is excellent. My favorite room in the game. I would like to live there. Cardboard city is also nice -Foam pits Cons: -Very linear. Can't get lost at all. Very few branching/interconnected paths. IMO you can't get much of a liminal vibe when you know you're just going from point A to point B. -Haunted house sfx and ghost apparitions mostly feel goofy. But I suppose it works well when it's something more whimsical, like a cat ghost -Not much verticality (i.e., being able to walk across multiple floors) -The entire supermarket level (well I actually only enjoyed the tiny empty room after the cart thing). I would rather simply walk around more weird supermarket rooms at my own pace than push carts around and open fridge doors a bunch of times. -The gameplay is just "find N keys" type of stuff. I'd prefer having no objectives at all. I mean, POOLS did really well, and it's a pure walking sim with no objectives. Misc: -Near-constant non-diegetic horror ambience music is unusual for these kinds of games, and I'm not a big fan. Thankfully there are audio sliders. I prefer just ambient noises, or music that plays within the world itself (i.e. from a literal speaker inside the world). -No crouch. I often crouch in these games. Makes the world look larger. Also would be cool to have some tunnels to crawl through -The hand icon kinda ruins my vibe a bit when I sit down somewhere. Pretty sure most people would intuitively move the left stick/WASD to get up, instead of click LMB. -Darkest color on screen is some kind of mildly dark green. I know it's an artistic choice, but it would be cool to see full black (i have an OLED screen) If there's a sequel, I would be happy if the entire game was just a huge multi-floor expansion to the last oasis/forest room. Need more of that.
spent the first half hour playing on the swings, 10/10
Truly creative exploration game. It would easily qualify as many things, a haunted game, a liminal space game, and in some ways even a creative backrooms type game! A lot of fun to play, with an impressive number of levels and scenarios. I give the Devs credit, they also keep adding to the game significantly long after the official release.
