Not typically a liminal space game enjoyer, but found this one to be up my ally and fun! Had some good laughs and scares, and confusion, but all in all it was great! Wish there was more levels to it lol. Would recommend for both liminal and non liminal game enjoyers! :)
I really liked the idea of this but I feel like the fact that you know there is no monster, it becomes less scary. The atmospheres are great and the sound design is good. I got goosebumps several times in the beginning. I think it would be better with something, maybe monsters that don't kill you, they just appear around you when you don't expect it. If you enjoy exploring creepy atmospheres, you'll really enjoy this. I did.

Neat liminal game where there are a few simple puzzles to solve while exploring. The chapters are short so it doesn't waste your time if you don't want it to, or alternatively you can wander around the scenery without beelining the objectives. Player's decision, which I like. I also like how there are interactable objects, lamps for instance actually function. You can turn the lights on or off and you can sit down on the furniture. That stood out because usually in these games objects are static set pieces. The interactable environment lead to some cool screenshots and made it more immersive. Great graphics as well on all maxxed out settings. The sound effects, some were over-the-top trying to be creepy so instead they fell flat, but otherwise the general atmospheric audio was good. Great experience overall.
Absolutely loving this game so far! The sound design is SUPERB, and the levels are equally amazing. I find myself slowly sinking into madness as I play, becoming more paranoid with each passing moment. It genuinely feels like the walls are closing in, while the voices and sounds in my head become ever louder and more terrifying. Kudos to the devs on a great game! Cheers! 🍻
Please learn how to do horror correctly. Repeating the same gimmicks over and over are not horror, that's how you ruin the atmosphere. The music was unnecessary as well, removing any tension that could have been. The graphics also scream very bland indie project. On that subject, liminal spaces are meant to feel familiar yet wrong. Nothing about any of this felt familiar, and that sucks honestly. If you want a good reference for how to do horror with no monsters and liminal spaces, have a look at The Complex: Expedition. I don't think that this game was inherently bad, but it also wasn't massively unique or fear inducing either.
I would recommend this game simply for the pretty ambiance and atmosphere and vibes, it was a good ride, entertaining but nothing ground-breaking. HOWEVER, do not compare this games to the backrooms or the poolrooms, it is by no meens of the same universe and honestly fair enough there are countless liminal poolroom / backroom games. It is doing a lot of things nicley in its own way which differ and I would say for the positive specifically around ambiance. I do agree with some of the other comments that the puzzles felt very menial and distracting, often irritating and something you want to get out of the way. For me that was the weakest part of the game overall. i would rate this game 7/10, as in get but on discount. I think the current price is fair.
Short but sweet liminal space walking sim that gets the ambience and atmosphere perfectly. It's also got one of the most unique perspectives for liminal space in a long while. Instead of exploring the most popular types of liminal spaces (ie play rooms, backrooms, pool rooms, dead malls, etc) Liminal Shroud goes into a completely different direction to explore worlds that feel otherworldly. Massive walls covered entirely with curtains is one of the most unsettling but iconic aspects of these levels and brings to mind the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks. The sound design is also exemplary compared to most other liminal space games. The game IS short, but I feel it makes up for it with detail and striking design choices.
Liminal Shroud is every bit as good as it says it is. The atmosphere is incredible, the liminal spaces are unsettling without needing monsters, and the whole experience keeps you curious about what’s waiting around the next corner. https://youtu.be/J3T-VZBdyrA
