interesting plot
Criminal Border gets even better! The series has been consistently awesome so far. It's amazingly paced, has loads of complex underworld business logistics that I love, has best girl Kotoko, who has possibly the best H scene known to man, and goes further with its twists and turns than 1st Offence. Seriously amazing game that I am dying to read more of. 3rd Offence soon please!!! It's too good
第二部玩下來也差不多 沒感到哪裡不對勁 史在哪裡==
解决问题的唯一手段就是ccb,难绷
Much like how part two of 9-nine (another series written by the same scenario writer as this) was a better and more well paced experience the same can be said for Criminal Border part II. Hopefully it won't take too long to get part 3 and 4 translated.
Liminal Border Part II is the second installment in Purple Software's crime-themed visual novel series, published internationally by Shiravune. Building directly upon the events of the first chapter, this entry expands the story's scope while deepening its focus on moral ambiguity, personal ambition, and the consequences of becoming involved in a dangerous underground world. Rather than functioning as a self-contained narrative, the game serves as an important continuation that raises the stakes for every major character and further develops the series' unique blend of suspense, drama, romance, and psychological tension. The story follows Itsuki Ninomae and his companions as they struggle to deal with the aftermath of previous events that have left them entangled in increasingly risky circumstances. What once appeared to be an opportunity for financial gain gradually evolves into a dangerous web of criminal connections, hidden agendas, and escalating threats. As pressure mounts from multiple directions, the group finds themselves forced to make difficult decisions that challenge both their ethics and their relationships. The narrative excels at showing how seemingly small choices can gradually pull ordinary individuals into situations far beyond their original expectations. One of the central figures of this chapter is Kotoko Teshigawara, whose role significantly elevates the emotional and dramatic weight of the story. As the daughter of a powerful criminal figure, she exists between two worlds: one shaped by personal values and another defined by family obligations and dangerous associations. The game explores this conflict in considerable detail, giving Kotoko a compelling character arc that balances vulnerability, determination, and emotional complexity. Her interactions with Itsuki form some of the strongest scenes in the narrative, creating moments that are both emotionally engaging and crucial to the larger story. What distinguishes Liminal Border Part II from many visual novels is its mature approach to storytelling. The narrative frequently places characters in situations where there are no ideal solutions. Every path forward carries consequences, and success often requires compromises that blur the line between right and wrong. Rather than presenting morality in simple terms, the game examines how desperation, ambition, loyalty, and fear can influence decision-making. This thematic depth gives the story a sense of realism that makes the escalating drama feel convincing despite the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the characters. The pacing is particularly effective because it allows tension to build gradually. Instead of relying on constant dramatic revelations, the game carefully develops its conflicts through character interactions and evolving circumstances. As the protagonists become more deeply involved in dangerous activities, the atmosphere grows increasingly tense. Every new opportunity seems accompanied by additional risks, creating a constant sense of uncertainty about what might happen next. This steady escalation keeps the narrative engaging and encourages players to continue uncovering the consequences of each decision. Character development remains one of the game's greatest strengths. Nearly every major cast member receives meaningful attention, allowing their personalities and motivations to evolve naturally throughout the story. Relationships become more complicated as trust is tested and hidden concerns come to light. The writing excels at portraying characters as flawed individuals struggling to navigate difficult circumstances rather than idealized heroes. These imperfections make them feel more believable and help strengthen the emotional impact of their successes and failures. The visual presentation continues to impress with detailed character artwork and polished scene composition. Character expressions effectively communicate emotional nuances during both dramatic confrontations and quieter moments of reflection. The visual design supports the darker tone of the narrative while still allowing room for lighter interactions that provide temporary relief from the story's tension. Background art and event illustrations help bring the world to life and reinforce the atmosphere of a city where danger often lurks beneath ordinary appearances. The audio design contributes significantly to immersion. Full Japanese voice acting enhances character personalities and adds emotional weight to important scenes. The performances are consistently strong, helping conversations feel natural and believable. The soundtrack complements the narrative by shifting between suspenseful, emotional, and reflective tones as needed. Rather than dominating scenes, the music quietly reinforces the mood and allows the story's strongest moments to have greater impact. As with many episodic visual novels, the game's structure can be both a strength and a limitation. Because Part II focuses heavily on building future developments, some storylines remain unresolved by the conclusion. Players expecting complete closure may find themselves left with lingering questions. However, this approach also allows the narrative to invest more time in character development and long-term storytelling, making the overall series feel more interconnected and ambitious. The game's emphasis on reading and narrative progression means that players seeking extensive gameplay mechanics may find the experience relatively straightforward. However, the quality of the writing, character interactions, and dramatic storytelling ensures that the narrative remains the primary attraction. The lack of complex gameplay systems rarely becomes a drawback because the story itself provides more than enough engagement. Ultimately, Liminal Border Part II succeeds by delivering a compelling continuation of an already intriguing story. Its exploration of crime, personal responsibility, emotional vulnerability, and moral compromise creates a narrative that feels mature and consistently engaging. The game manages to balance suspense and character development remarkably well, ensuring that both the larger plot and the individual journeys of its cast remain equally interesting. For fans of visual novels that emphasize psychological drama, character-driven storytelling, and morally complex narratives, Liminal Border Part II is a highly rewarding experience. Its strong writing, memorable cast, polished presentation, and steadily escalating tension make it one of the more compelling entries in the genre. While its episodic nature means that some answers are reserved for future installments, the journey offered here is rich enough to stand as an excellent chapter in its own right. Rating: 8/10
