Just like the first LightRay, LightRay Wayfinder is all about top down laser puzzles, this time with a few new mechanics and additions. This time, they also center around the WayFinder mechanic that has been in a few of the developer's ReThink games; triangles that move along a predetermined path and have to reach their goal by using the lasers to open up paths or activate teleporters. The game is mostly on the easy side, with just the last ten presenting a larger challenge with the addition of reflective mirrors. Just like all of Yaeko's other games, this one is a huge recommendation for puzzle lovers!
Its overall a nice game! If you liked the previous Lightray then you will probably like this one as well! It was a good idea by Yaeko to try Wayfinder (from Rethink) puzzle mechanic in Lightray. For the later puzzles you need to focus quite much to figure out what to do. Theres also some bonus puzzles as usual which is very nice i think! Looking forward to more puzzle games from Yaeko!
I found it very challenging, but of course it is logical so a solution is always possible.
Another great hit from Developer Extraordinaire ¥aeko. This is a fantastic follow-on to the LightRay game (and a worthy companion to the ReThink and ReThink | Evolved series) consisting of clever, logical "guide the light beam" puzzles. This game adds the Wayfinder mechanic, where a drone moves along a track and can activate beams based on their color. The goal is to get each color wayfinder to its corresponding cradle. Adding to the fun is the ability to change the wayfinder's color, to teleport them to other tracks, and to have them impeded on their progress unless a bridge is activated by the appropriate color. Unlike the ReThink and ReThink | Evolved games, this game provides an orthogonal view down - you aren't walking around in the areas. Although I prefer the free roaming viewpoint, these are still fantastic puzzles and are a fun challenge. The graphics are gorgeous - the perspective yields a feeling like you are looking at a model railroading environment. Gameplay is very solid - very easy controls to master. The ability to pause by setting the velocity of the wayfinders to zero is helpful so that cubes can be placed without resetting the puzzle. If you like logic puzzles, a relaxing atmosphere, and no time limit stress, this is for you. Will likely appeal to: Fans of Portal, Portal 2, Talos Principle 1&2 Similar to: Archaica - the Path of Light, LightRay, ReThink, ReThink | Evolved
