Lifelikes aren’t real! At least, nobody thought living appliances as smart as humans could be, until all hell broke loose in rural Ohio. Fight back in radio-inspired combat against toasters, lamps, and other living objects as you get to the bottom of a magical mystery in this electromagnetic RPG.

I've played through the intro and first track a couple times from itch.io. Good to see Lifelike on Steam! Just checked out a bit of the intro on the steam deck and it looks great. I had to adjust the controller settings but it was super simple and I exported the layout to the community. This is a fun and quirky RPG with a cool story, characters, and premise. The pixel art is great! Combat system is fun too. Looking forward to track 2 and playing this again on the Deck. Great Indie game that you should play if it all looks interesting to you. Oh yeah, the music is fantastic!!!!!!
"Just another day in Ohio" The characters are relatable, the story intriguing and having some surprises. The artstyle may not be for everyone but I think it's charming, especially how well some scenes are animated.
I got murdered by a spoon 10/10
For full clarity I do animation for LIFELIKE but I was brought on to do so during Track 2's development. LIFELIKE is a game that's focused on telling a story and building a world and in my opinion it does so incredibly well, there are small details everywhere that both help the fictional world of Ohio feel lived in as well as enhance the story and the player's understanding of it as a whole. LIFELIKE uses a turn based battle system with a timed hits mechanic for when you do get into a tussle, the combat is simultaneously really well thought out and simple. The strategies in combat you can pull later on are just fun to see executed. My only issues with the game sadly also are part of the combat system; in LIFELIKE when you use magic you can choose between AM and FM to take advantage of an enemy's weakness- however, unless I missed something there isn't much in the way of a signifier of what an enemy is weak to without trial and error which can sometimes be a let down given how you often have to be strategic with the resources LIFELIKE gives you for a fight. Another issue I found is that some of the minigames don't give you enough of a pause before they begin for you to figure out what to do but similar to my only other issue this is mitigated with experience. I do recommend LIFELIKE if you've looked at any of the screenshots or video of the game and thought "huh, this looks neat"/"this game might be for me" because chances are yeah- you'll enjoy it. The game has an incredibly unique and crisp aesthetic, the story is a wild ride, combat is great once you have everything down pat, and with more tracks on the way I could see myself spending a lot of time in Ohio in the near future. A statement I'm pretty sure has never been said before.
It's pretty interesting, and decently fun so far. I'm excited to see how this game ends up.
played it before on itch, but it's pretty good! If it seems interesting to you, you'll probaby enjoy it!
LIFELIKE is a character/story focused RPG set in the corn-brimming, distant lands of Ohio. It does a great job setting up its mysteries, to the point that having to wait for the full release is kinda killing me. It features some impressively-animated cutscenes, specially for a pixel-art game. Some of the character movements are so fluid that it feels like they were mocapped or rotoscoped. The soundtrack is wonderfully goofy, going the extra mile for characterization. For instance, one of the tracks uses pots and pans as instruments because the scene it plays features them predominantly for... reasons... My main criticism is that I'd like to see the battle system a bit more beefed up. I can't wait for the full release!
Неплохая игра. Много лет назад я взяла демку игры, и пожалела из-за того, что игра быстро проходится. И демка и первая глава... деньги возвращать не буду!! o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o
A fraud, liar. This game be abandoned.
Decent for an early access game. Some stuff like action commands could use some extra punch to make it feel better to execute. Also, I think this game might be abandoned? Shame, I was really excited for this game when it launched. My only source of info was the mother directs so maybe there's just a social media account or something I haven't seen.
