The best thing about indie games is that their story can take a more intimate, everyday tone, while also exploring some of life's frustrating complexities, while fully maintaining the creator's creative vision. Blending the familiar RPG setting as a catalyst for both story and gameplay works wonders in structuring the plot.
Simple 2d rpg game, heavily focused on story. I would love more random encounters and a coins based system for potions and such. All in all I'm excited to see how the story will play out. Loved the vine with "Lore" and "True Lore" on the demo.
The world is beautifully crafted, full of detail and atmosphere that pulls you right in. One of the best things is that there's no grinding you can enjoy the adventure without repetitive tasks slowing you down. It also brings back that old-school RPG charm, with classic mechanics and a nostalgic feel that fans of the genre will appreciate. If you're into story-driven RPGs with heart and depth, this is definitely one to check out.
Played the demo a while back and thought this was worth checking out. From what I've seen so far the game has a really interesting and original story, combined with easy to learn combat mechanics similar to the classic RPG formula with some interesting twists. First of all there is no leveling system, meaning that you have to face each combat encounter strategically, almost like a puzzle, since you don't have a straight up level advantage over enemies, instead, by exploring and interacting with characters in each level, you find necessary resources, items (and secrets) to help you on your journey. Also you can swap character classes between each level to try out new playstyles or party synergies.
(with my personal favorite being berserker orc and healer mage)
Finally, being someone who usually just skips through all the text, I was surprised to find the dialogue to be short and to the point, while at the same time reflecting each character's way of thinking and sometimes giving crucial information about a certain situation. I'll update this once i finish the game with my final thoughts but so far this seems like a really nice indie production and definitely worth checking out!
DUDE. You HAVE to Check Out This Game! ====SPOILERS==== Okay, so I just heard about this game and it sounds absolutely INSANE you're playing as this fantasy author who gets into an accident and wakes up in LIMBO. it's a world literally built from his own books, his imagination, and even his regrets. You're basically journeying through the mind of an author, where his stories and his personal demons are coming to life. But here's the part that I think is a total game-changer, especially for me.NO GRINDING. Seriously! You don't have to spend hours fighting the same low-level slimes to level up. Every single battle is a unique, high-stakes puzzle. You have to actually use your brain, think about your party's abilities, where you position them, and come up with a real strategy to win. It’s all about tactical skill, not just who has the bigger stats. The world is "beautifully eerie" hand-crafted place, and you get to explore and solve puzzles that are tied into the lore. Honestly, this sounds like the perfect mix of a deep, gripping story and super-smart, strategic gameplay. We've been looking for a game that respects our time and challenges us with more than just repetitive combat, and this looks like it's THE ONE.
Incredible turn-based experience. Every fight feels unique and challenging, and the story really sticks with you. No grinding, no fluff—just smart design and emotional weight. One of the best strategy RPGs I’ve played in a while.
SECOND CHANCES - A PLEASANT SURPISE "Second chances" game doesn't need a second chance. It answers affirmatively to the question of whether you believe in love at first sight with a game (with people it's more complicated). By the years, as I grew up, I left behind my "gamer era", but eventually I started feeling nostaligic with this side of myself. So today I decided to search for a game to get back in touch with my inner child. I didn't want to pick a mainstream game to begin my journey as a "newborn" gamer and I preffered to give a chance to an upcoming-indie-game-developer. So I stepped into Deadpixel's first ever publication and I firmly believe that his/her piece of work can really guide the RPG based genre to the mainstream path again by keeping the roots of an authentic RPG-world building game and by adding his/her unique elements. As I wandered to the deep and spiritual world of "second chances" I experienced all kind of emotions and somehow I sympathised with the protagonist "Paul" who literally faces a Dante's inferno's like experience. I found some pieces of myself in this project and I believe a lot of people, who played the game, will identify with me. Does the sinner Paul hide a saint inside him? Is he just a simple human being like you and me? Will he finally find peace in the end...and you with him? It's up to you to find out. Make a favor to yourself and give this game the first and only chance that it needs.
I've played the demo and I was intrigued to learn more about the characters. The gameplay resembles retro rpg games. Big bonus: in this game death is a red head
game appears to be broken because after finishing first section, teleporter returns player to main menu instead of continuing game
I had played the demo and now I am back to complete the game. The most interesting part are the story and the characters. The soundtrack is solid. On the negatives , it has a little slow pace in the intro, and you'll have to wait a little before you jump into action. Βut overall it's an excellent game.
