Se você for essa pessoa e quiser algo assim fora dessa saga eu recomendaria Tell Me Why, jogasso. 9/10
I don't care if this was just fan service, I hope this isn't the last we see of this story. I love these characters and the stories told through them, can't wait to see what else is in store for them. But please have it separated by chapters though, a few slides at the end weren't enough. Superultrawide support would be nice too.
I know it's going to sound crazy, but hear me out. Life is Strange: Reunion is an amazing detective story that is on par with its main predecessor, Life is Strange 1. HEAR ME OUT! I've played every LiS game except for True Colors and what I can say is that the devs have done an extremely good job at retconning and explaining the mess that Double Exposure turned to be. In abstraction, the detective part of the story is good: it has a very determined pattern, and if you can actually come up with the clues - you CAN figure out the culprit. I couldn't, and it solely comes down to me not being attentive enough, no blame towards the game. However, throughout the whole experience I've been having a feeling that this game is longer than it should be. I don't have any problems with reusing the same scenes and assets multiple times in a row, but I did have a problem with character dialogues being too "breathy" and "pause-y" at times: instead of just wandering and giving long gaps of nothingness, character dialogues could be a bit more active and to the point. To be fair, the dynamic does exists with certain characters and scenes, in example Chloe almost never experiences any stuttering and is written much better than the rest of the cast: she is rational, stays in character and in general is much more enjoyable to watch, compared to Max and the rest of Caledon. The biggest problem in this game in my opinion is that I felt to be actively pushed towards Max being in a relationship with Chloe
(TWO MAJOR KISS VS HUG CHOICES?! REALLY?!?!)
. I understand that we had a choice to Kiss her in the first game, but as someone who's been a teenager doing stupid things, two 16-year old girls kissing is the least relationship building I could envision. I think these two are much more than "lovers" - they're friends that has went through a very complex journey. That, and Warren is the true go ape boy for Maxine. I think this is definitely a step in the right direction for the franchise. Not because I want Life is Strange to turn into nostalgia bait, but because it has always been about a detective story hidden under the slice of life surface. I do want to see more high-quality detective stories and less relationship-builders, therefore the game gets an upvote from me. Keep at it, and the future of the series will be bright.
(if we put aside the entire fact that all of Deck Nine's LiS games are basically fan fiction built in denial of a fact that Max imagined a rewind power story to cope with the fact that her friend that she egotistically ghosted for three years got shot in front of her eyes, and accept the version that it was Rachel's spirit that had gifted Max her powers)
Lastly, the engine team should learn to limit their appetites and make sure the game's highest settings don't require that much GPU power. I played on a 5060 Ti and could not use the highest settings. I could understand it if it were a game as big as Cyberpunk, but for a bunch of characters in a static scene that should not be happening. Also, if anyone experiences "insane flickering" in backgrounds - put the POST PROCESSING setting to LOW, that almost entirely disables Nanite, which the devs couldn't utilize properly. I don't think players should spend 20 minutes experimenting with graphical presets before they could play the game. In conclusion, no Life is Strange subsequent entry could beat the original up until this day
(the OG game has more active players than any of the rest according to steamDB)
, but I haven't seen a game this good in a while. The technical aspect is manageable, the unnecessary relationships are almost entirely avoidable. I don't feel that I've wasted my time playing this game and would probably play it one more time sometime later.
carino ma mi aspettavo di più, a parte che è super corto ma avendo giocato a tutti i capitoli della saga mi aspettavo di meglio. non vale quello che costa
The first Life is Strange was great. After that the writing seems to have gone downhill a lot. This was the worst of the games. Not at all what I was hoping for.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR LIFE IS STRANGE: REUNION - but you probably knew that... :) Honestly, after playing Double Exposure i had hope for the return to Caledon and Max's story, and it proved to be even better. Sure, this game had its problems too; it wasn't perfect, but it's a love letter to Max and Chloe's relationship in the best way possible. Do I think this game needed to happen? No, neither did double exposure, but regardless, it's still an incredible trilogy that stays true to the characters within it! The return of Chloe was the most interesting part. I picked bay, and so Chloe's return was shrouded in mystery. I don't know what happens if you choose Bay, but I assume it's just as good. Unlike the last game, the choices felt impactful, and Chloe's ability from bts returning was a welcome addition that really made specific interactions more fun and meaningful. Safi's return wasn't my favourite, for most of it she was just this side character made to throw a small and confusing wrench in the plans, but I understand why she returned, and I think she got the payoff that she deserved and still leaves room for her to be explored in future, given they want to go that route. As for Max and Chloe, I chose to work to rekindle their love, and I assume many others did too. This led to an ending that honestly, I was satisfied with, but it wasn't without its issues, i would've loved the scene of saving Chloe from the fall to have been interactive like the part from the original game, and for the actual final scene, i understand why it wasn't done, but a return to Arcadia Bay would've been just a perfect way to end it, sure, they did go back and we can see the pictures they took, but seeing the town, seeing joyce and chloe together again, seeing the real lighthouse, it would've been incredible! But that doesn't take away at all from the ending they got, the ending they deserve. Will we ever see Max and Chloe again? I hope not. I love them so much, but their story is done. If they want to respect these incredibly well-done characters, this will be the end for them, officially, as I'm sure it already is, but it's clear that things aren't done in the LiS Franchise, as we've seen with Diamond and Safi. I'm sure they'll get games too, and if so, then I can't wait for it! Overall, this game had its flaws, but Max and Chloe were done so well, they felt true to their original versions and yet, older and more mature, even Chloe herself, you can tell it's her, she's grown, but her essence is still the same. We didn't need to see these two again, but after Double Exposure, it was only right to give us another chance to make things right between the two, and we can, and we have. 7.5/10 - Partners in Time <3
Definitely better than the previous one but still not as good as the setting in Arcadia Bay. It could be better but still I liked it. The ending was kinda satisfying. There could be some continuation in future I hope.
No matter what happens, Max and Chloe belong together forever and always. ♥
