Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is a comedic stealth-puzzle game created by Moving Player and published by Plug In Digital. Rather than placing players in the role of a secret agent or military infiltrator, the game takes the stealth genre in an unexpectedly humorous direction. Its premise centers on the everyday anxiety of being late to work, transforming a mundane office environment into a stealth playground filled with suspicious coworkers, patrolling security guards, and awkward workplace obstacles. By framing stealth gameplay around the relatable situation of sneaking into the office unnoticed, the game builds a comedic tone that distinguishes it from more serious stealth titles. The story revolves around Gary, an office worker who wakes up late after spending the previous night partying. Unfortunately for him, this is not the first time he has shown up late to work, and being caught arriving after everyone else could easily result in losing his job. His objective is simple but challenging: reach his desk on the twenty-second floor without anyone seeing him. The entire office building becomes a maze of surveillance and social obstacles, where coworkers, managers, and security staff act as potential threats capable of exposing Gary’s embarrassing situation. Throughout the journey, Gary receives occasional phone calls from his friend Marty, who provides advice and humorous commentary that adds personality to the otherwise tense stealth missions. Gameplay focuses on navigating each floor of the office building while avoiding detection. The levels are structured as stealth puzzles where players must carefully observe enemy patrol routes and visibility cones before making a move. Coworkers wander through corridors, security guards monitor restricted areas, and certain office workers remain stationary but constantly watch their surroundings. Being spotted usually results in immediate failure, forcing players to restart the level and attempt a more cautious approach. Because of this, patience and planning become essential elements of success. To help Gary remain hidden, the game offers a variety of interactive tools and environmental mechanics. Players can hide inside lockers, slip through ventilation shafts, crawl beneath desks, or hug walls to remain outside the line of sight of suspicious employees. The game also introduces comedic distraction tools that allow players to manipulate the environment. Donuts can be used to lure guards away from doors, newspapers allow Gary to disguise himself while moving slowly across rooms, and cardboard boxes provide temporary cover when no other hiding spots are available. Some puzzles even require players to trigger absurd office incidents, such as sabotaging equipment or causing minor chaos among coworkers in order to clear a path forward. As Gary progresses upward through the building, the level design gradually becomes more complex. Early floors introduce basic stealth mechanics, but later sections feature tighter corridors, more vigilant guards, and new environmental hazards that require creative thinking. Each department in the office has its own layout and unique challenges, ensuring that players must adapt their strategies as they climb closer to Gary’s desk. The progression structure keeps the experience engaging by steadily increasing the difficulty and introducing new puzzle elements. Visually, the game uses a colorful pixel-art style combined with an isometric perspective that allows players to clearly see the layout of each floor. This viewpoint makes it easy to track enemy movements and identify potential hiding spots. Characters are portrayed with simple but expressive animations that contribute to the humorous tone of the game. Office spaces are filled with recognizable details such as cubicles, meeting rooms, vending machines, and workstations, creating a familiar environment that enhances the comedic premise of sneaking through an everyday workplace. The sound design complements the playful atmosphere with upbeat background music and exaggerated sound effects. Sneaking past coworkers, triggering distractions, or hiding in lockers all produce distinctive audio cues that reinforce the stealth mechanics. The conversations between Gary and Marty also add humor, often poking fun at office culture and the absurd lengths Gary must go to in order to avoid being caught. These comedic moments help maintain a lighthearted tone even when players are retrying levels after failed attempts. One of the strongest aspects of Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is its originality. By transforming an ordinary office building into a stealth puzzle environment, the game creates a concept that feels both unique and relatable. Many players can identify with the fear of arriving late to work or avoiding an awkward encounter with a boss, and the game exaggerates these situations into entertaining gameplay scenarios. The humor and satire directed at workplace culture help give the game personality beyond its mechanical design. However, the experience is not without its weaknesses. The stealth mechanics, while enjoyable, are relatively simple compared to those found in larger stealth games. Because the gameplay revolves around similar tasks on each floor—avoiding detection and reaching the elevator—the formula can become repetitive after several levels. Additionally, the strict detection rules can sometimes feel unforgiving, forcing players to restart frequently if they are spotted even briefly. Despite these shortcomings, the game remains an entertaining indie title that succeeds in delivering a creative twist on stealth gameplay. Its short length makes it an accessible experience that can be completed in a few hours, and its humorous premise keeps the journey entertaining throughout. The combination of puzzle-solving, stealth mechanics, and workplace satire creates a memorable adventure that stands out among smaller indie games. Overall, Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is a clever and humorous stealth puzzle game that proves even an ordinary office building can become the setting for an engaging adventure. While it does not offer the depth or complexity of major stealth franchises, its creative concept, charming visuals, and comedic storytelling make it an enjoyable experience for players looking for a lighthearted challenge. I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
It made me chuckle and think a bit. Thumbs Up!
The stealth ideas in here are pretty good. Like any stealth game prepare to get a little annoyed in some situations. It's a good game nonetheless and I recommend it.
7/10

Check out my curated list of games
This is a 2D/iso top down "stealth" game with an office/comedy theme and ugly retro pixel/superdeformed character graphics. Sneak into your office and get to work without being caught by security guards or something. Lazy retro pixel graphics are the just the beginning of the problems. You're immediately assaulted with console peasant kids toy gamepad prompts even though this on PC. It's a badly done console port. The developers didn't do a lot of playtesting because your visibility range is close to nil, which makes trying to take this game seriously even more difficult. It seems like the developers already published this game as "Level 22" then voluntarily pulled it from the store, then re-released the exact same game with some controls changed around and a different title, so they could charge for the same game twice! How much would you expect to pay for this dumpster fire on the back of a train headed straight to a derailing? They want $10, I'm not kidding. You can buy real games for that, made for PC, without retro pixel graphics.
