Let’s Café is a cute cooking sim where you cook delicious food, experiment, discover recipes and get to know your customers.
The Story
You are the new owner of an old café in Softshell Shoals. Create your menu, manage inventory, and serve up the goods. Purchase new recipes or combine items to see what you come up with. Alongside cooking up some delicious foods you also get to know your customers and their stories.
Gameplay & Features
Game settings include; Audio controls and fullscreen/windowed options. You start out the game first by naming your café and setting how long your day length is (5-15 minutes). You begin with $500 and some ingredients to make 4 recipes (Hamburger, Honey Butter Biscuits, Latte and Mocha). You earn money and star ratings from customers depending on how fast you serve them. If you get their order wrong it does not punish you. You just make it again and the customer can still give you full stars. Money is used for ingredients while stars are used to buy recipes and power ups in the shop. The layout of the game is quite simple. To cook a meal or make a drink you put the ingredients from your inventory into the grid and hit make. Then you serve the item. You can take items on and off your menu depending on your inventory and if a customer orders something you run out of you can cancel it off of their order. You can end the day at any time but you will lose your tip money. The gameplay is relaxing, you have time in between customers to browse the store and keep stock of your inventory as well as mess around with experimenting with ingredients to see what you can make. The first recipe I experimented with and made was Hot Cocoa (milk, sugar and cocoa). * NOTE You can only make one food at a time! My Wishlist * Allow us to view our recipes and the same time as our inventory. So we can quickly see what we have while we prepare our menu. The back and forth gets frustrating. This could be done by having a split screen off to the left where our recipe book is always open (and can be toggled on and off). * Allow us to change the amount of time in a day at loading in our game. * Let us search recipes by ingredient * More inventory space.
Overall Experience
This game offers a lot of fun with only a few wishes for being in early access (just note my wishlist). It is also addicting to collect recipes and experiment with ingredients. A wholesome, enjoyable game to relax with. The customers come in one at a time and don’t punish you for making a mistake (you can still get full stars if you make a wrong recipe). You have control over how many recipes you offer at once and can change them at any time depending on your inventory. And you can pause the game if you need a break. Highly recommend it! ☕
Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. I found this game because I frequently check the Crowd Control library and lo and behold, I saw this little gem. I love pixel art. I love cute food and food art. The characters are fun. Organization <3 - Good! Ability to experiment and find new recipes - Great Letting my chat mess with me through both integration AND Crowd Control? Cherry on top! The conversations that ensued with my chat over strange recipes and food combos we never though possible? Priceless. Seriously, though, this game was great fun. It's adorable, it lets you explore, it's not a "go go go, hurry hurry" kind of cooking game. It truly is chill. And it's design is clever - using a grid for your crafting but allowing placement in the grid based on different parameters? Clever. The Sloth? Clever. <-- I love all these little things and attention to detail. Absolutely worthwhile game!
Insanely cute game with super sweet devs! The art style is exactly in my lane and it's so fun figuring out all the weird and silly recipes (with a lot of normal recipes too!!). I also absolutely love the Twitch integration, with the option for Crowd Control as well :3 my chat had a great time ordering 5 coffees at once and crashing on caffeine ^w^ though I'm still pretty skeptical about the Spicy PB & Banana Sandwich...... I originally got the game during a sale but in full honesty I would 100% pay full price if I could go back in time!! Definitely worth it! I'm on a mission to go 100% the game now >:)
At first I was confused that there is so much down time between guests and that we can set the day length to a whopping 10 minutes. But then I found out that this make the game perfect for playing while watching or reading something! This had become my favorite game to unwind. A perfect showcase of how games can be fun and enjoyable without the 1000+ cosmetic unlocks or 50 hrs of cinematic cutscenes and all that stuff.
4 min in, I legitimately clapped for joy. I am a grown adult. I am enjoying this game so, SO much that I am simultaneously writing this review and playing it. If you like little repetitive (but not so repetitive it's boring, there are a lot of recipes to discover) cooking games, and enjoy pixel graphics, this game is for you. The only complaint I usually ever have with pixel graphics is that they're so small you can't see how cute the little creatures are- you don't have that problem in Let's Cafe. They are so detailed, so unique, and SO CUTE!! The first time a sloth waddled past my shop window at half the speed of the other creatures, I squealed. Mayor Chicken? Play to find out who that unique lil guy is. Just honestly, this is a very, very soothing game that has truly pleased my brain. I highly recommend it.
A few in game days in and I already can tell this game is a hidden gem! I love how simple it is and easy to grasp. It has a lot of character for just being a bunch of cute pixel animals. Seeings whats to come too has me really excited and I would just love to see more and more of whats to come. It's a very cozy game to play while watching something in the background. It absolutely reminds me of other tycoon games where you are running a store mixed with a minecraft workbench to create products. I will definitely be keeping track of development and playing whenever I need to cool down from a stressful day.
Do you like cooking? Do you like organization and management? Do you enjoy being visited by a series of cute and mildly menacing animals? This game is for you. Chill. Relaxing. Ominous. Give me a glass of Ranch and make it a double.
A fun, cozy game about running a cafe. Cute pixel animals, great original soundtrack, and the devs are a fantastic indie team.
Great atmosphere and sounds. The most relaxing restaurant ever.
