Couldn't find out how to build units at garrisons.

Worst Game Ever.

Missing a proper interactive tutorial on game mechanics.
Decent first person strategy/midnightlike/unite 'em up with an intuitive interface and nice graphics and music. It is quite barebones though, even when compared to the games that inspired it (no non-combat victory conditions or character traits for example). Play it but only if you already have LoM remakes (I think the developer made graphics for them).
TL;DR: Recommended only if you like Lords of Midnight, Cryo's Dune and old-school strategy games. This is retro strategy wargame in the vein of Lords of Midnight and Cryo's Dune. Plays much like an old school strategy boardgame, and is mostly intended for players who like that sort of thing. Others will probably not like it. It is a strategy game in the truest sense, meaning that you will have to come up with an overarching plan and adapt it to the situation if you are to have any hope of victory; you need to strike a balance between recruiting allies, keeping your own troops supplied and rested, and eliminating smaller enemy groups before they can concentrate their forces. Great artwork and nice music. The game also gets points for using a Middle East / North Africa inspired fantasy setting instead of the overused medieval (Western/Central) Europe one. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have the same epic "feel" as LoM or Dune, partly because it removes the Lord of the Rings-like quest in LoM in order to focus on the strategy aspect, and partly because the writing, while functional, feels somewhat flat and uninspired. The world it presents is interesting but under-developed, and the characters don't really have anything in the way of personality. It's a decent game for its price, but looks unfinished and left me wanting more. It has only one proper scenario plus a tiny tutorial and, while the game hints that more scenarios were planned, nothing came of this or of the announced scenario editor. In other words, once you beat the scenario you're effectively done with the game (there are three difficulty levels, but the harder ones seem to simply give the enemy more troops and magic items). The game is mostly bug-free, though odd stuff can happen if you start a new game immediately after finishing your last (exit the game and restart instead) or if you try to scroll far away from the map.
At this new discounted price, sure, I would recommend it. It's mostly 10-12 hours of decent strategy, though, given the low resource feature of the game, they could have worked a little more on AI, game mechanics and in game depth. A good step up from old Lords of Midnight though.
Legions of Ashworld, c'est Lords of Midnight 30 ans plus tard.
